1. Adjusting nut
If proper adjustment cannot be ob-
tained as described, have a Explorer
dealer make this adjustment.
PERIODIC MAINTENANCE AND MINOR REPAIR
Checking the front brake pads
and rear brake shoes
The front brake pads and the rear brake
shoes must be checked for wear at the

intervals specified in the periodic main-
tenance and lubrication chart.

Front brake pads
1. Wear indicator
2. Brake disc
3. Brake pad
Each front brake pad is provided with
wear indicators, which allows you to
check the brake pad wear without hav-
ing to disassemble the brake. To check
the brake pad wear, check the position
of the wear indicators while applying the
brake. If a brake pad has worn to the
point that a wear indicator almost
touches the brake disc, have a Explorer
dealer replace the brake pads as a set.
Rear brake Shoes
Always check and adjust the break le-
ver before riding.To check the brake,
check the position of the adjustable
nut if the nut position reach to the end,
have a Explorer dealer to replace the
brake shoes as a set.
