Function description
a hydraulic compensator is used in heating systems to hydrau-
lically disconnect the heating circuit and the consumer circuit
from each other. the pressure loss in the heating and consumer
circuits is not constant. the number of heat generators in op-
eration and the position of the control devices in the consumer
circuits affect the pressure loss in the overall system.
the hydraulic compensator is a vertically installed pipe with
a large inside diameter for minimum pressure loss that con-
nects the supply line and the return line. temperature layers
form inside the compensator due to the difference in density
between hot and cold water. the hot supply water rises to the
top and the colder return water sinks to the bottom.

the water flows from the boiler to the hydraulic compensator.
depending on the pump flow, it can flow through the rectifier
either through the built-in perforated bases or to the boiler
return line. the resulting hydraulic disconnection makes the
hydraulic compensator a neutral zone for dynamic pressures.
the perforated bases prevent turbulence and ensure clearly
defined temperature layers, and make the compensator shorter

than conventional ones.
