Emergency brake test

Press Reaction Test A (see previous
page) and then Emergency brake test.

Explain the test to your client /
Start accelerating. Once the value
indicated in the white box at the top is
reached the amber light will come on.
Keep the level of acceleration you have
reached. When the red light comes on,
brake as quickly as possible up to the
value indicated in the white box at the
bottom. The shorter the time displayed
on the timer, the better the result.

Select the control or pedal to be test-
ed from the options in the drop-down
list B. Your client can then start the test
when they feel ready to do so.

Save the value C and reset D.
Up to eight values can be saved. The
test report will show all values. Repeat
steps 3 and 4 until the desired number
of values has been saved.

Key to the four different sequences in the test which are measured in seconds and as a percentage
of the total time. The test report will display these values by referring to the numbers 1 to 4.
1. Reaction time, brain
The time taken for the brain to register the stop signal and send a message to
the foot or hand to start moving.
2. Accelerator pedal movement, muscles
The time taken to open the throttle.
3. Switching between throttle and brake, movement
The time taken to move a foot from one pedal to the other. This value is not
of particular interest if braking is performed by hand.
4. Brake pedal movement, muscles
The time taken to depress the pedal to full braking with the force indicated in
the white box at the bottom.
