Safety Instructions
|
Please read all the information attached to the
appliance and described in the operating instructions.
To prevent damage to your audio system, the
|
connecting leads should never be plugged in or
removed when the appliances are turned on.
|
Even loudspeakers with magnetic screening can colour
or distort the picture on a nearby television set or
monitor. A distance of more than 0.5 m is generally
sufficient to prevent such interference. Many television
sets and monitors have an inbuilt correction circuit for
such instances. Turning these appliances off using the
mains switch (not the remote control) and turning them
on again after a few minutes should smooth out the
pictures to a large extent.
Avoid placing credit cards, computer diskettes or other
|
magnetic data media near to loudspeakers, as the
stored information could be destroyed. Similarly,
magnetic tape players (e.g. cassette recorders or video
recorders) should not be positioned in the immediate
vicinity, as the operation of the magnetic heads could
be impaired (if necessary, this can be reversed
by demagnetizing the heads afterwards, e.g. at
the dealer's).
The chosen locations for the loudspeakers
|
should have low humidity and should not be
damp. As with all appliances not specially
designed for such conditions, moisture can
span the electrical insulation and can thus
constitute a serious hazard.
Constant humidity and excessive exposure to
sunlight can cause wooden cabinets to swell and can thus
impair their operation and cause discolouration.
|
Very high volumes during continuous operation not only
disturb the neighbours but can also impair the user's
hearing.
|
If a loudspeaker is positioned directly next to a
transformer, electromagnetic interference from the
transformer can cause the loudspeakers to hum. At
greater distances from the transformer, the humming
becomes inaudibly soft.
Passive loudspeakers are never connected to the
|
electrical
connection terminals must be connected
only to the relevant amplifier output
jacks. Improvised connection directly to
the electrical mains (110 - 230 volts) is
dangerous
loudspeaker being destroyed almost
immediately.
For this reason, do not fit the loudspea-
ker cables to be connected with
connectors which could be mixed up
with mains plugs. Particular care should be taken here in
households where there are children. According to the
mains.

corresponding safety standards, the use of banana
plugs is permitted because these plugs also fit into
mains outlets.
Ensure that no foreign bodies or liquids get into the

appliance.
|
At extremely high volumes, the connection
|
terminals can carry voltages of around 30 to 50 V.
For this reason, always avoid touching the boxes'
uninsulated cable ends or connection contacts
during operation. Children and pets are particularly
at risk as they are unaware of the danger. The
appliance must only be opened by qualified
specialist personnel and when disconnected.

In the event of extreme overload, the
possibility of individual components or
the loudspeaker chassis blowing,
despite fuses, cannot be ruled out
completely.
In
theory,
overload could conceivably (we are
not aware of such a case) result in a
fire starting inside the box. During
operation at extremely high levels, the
boxes should therefore not be left
unattended.
