Connection of the speakers with the amplifier
2. Active subwoofer
First, please refer to the instruction
manual of the ELAC subwoofer and open
the page showing the connection
terminal.
Modern amplifiers have at least one
particular subwoofer output with a cinch
connector.
Connect this output on the amplifier via
cinch cable to the LFE/LINE input of the
ELAC subwoofer.
If your ELAC subwoofer is provided with
two (stereo) LINE IN inputs, for optimum
operation of the ON/OFF automatic use a
y-shaped cable. This cable type runs
from one channel to two channels so that
both subwoofer LINE IN inputs may be
used. If you do not use a y-shaped cable,
you may use either of the two LINE In
inputs.
Some older amplifiers do not provide a
seperate output for active subwoofers. In
this case, connect the subwoofer via a
loudspeaker cable in parallel with the
front speakers. Particular attention has to
be payed to the correct polarity: wrong
polarity of one of the channels leads to
loss of the entire bass range.
