General Set-Up Instructions

Your Home Cinema System consists of five acoustically identical satellites, all of which are magnetically shielded, and
a non-shielded subwoofer. In the case of 5 identical satellites (for example CINEMA 1 ESP), all satellites may be used
as either front, rear, or centre speaker.
According to their position in the room, in the basic 5.1 configuration of a home cinema system, the following
loudspeaker types are distinguished:
centre speaker

Your dealer will supply matching wall brackets and stands allowing free set-up in the room
Additional speakers:
If your amplifier supports the connection of additional speakers (e.g. rear centre speakers, lateral speakers or front
effect speakers), for connection and set-up please refer to the set-up instructions of your amplifier.
For system up-grading, some components of the ELAC home cinema system may be obtained seperately.

The front speakers are mounted at ear-height
at about 1m left and right from the screen. The
distance between them should be the same as
between the listeners and the front speakers
("stereo triangle"). Moreover, they should be
turned slightly toward the listeners.
The centre speaker must be placed directly
above or beneath the screen, if possible at ear-
height.
The optimum position for rear speakers is
behind the listeners, slightly above ear-height
(ca 40...60cm). The speakers should be directed
into the room, and not toward the listeners. If
rear-mounting is impossible, a reasonable
alternative position for the rear speakers is
laterally behind the listeners.
The active subwoofer is best set up between
the front speakers. To ensure a homogenous
sound, the distance between the subwoofer and
the listening place should be the same as
between the subwoofer and the front speakers.
