4. Package, Transport, Storage

4.1. Delivery

On arrival, the delivered items must be inspected for dam-
age and a check made that all parts are present. If any
parts are damaged or missing, the transport company or
the manufacturer must be informed on the day of delivery.
Any claim made at a later date will be deemed invalid.
Damage to parts must be noted on the delivery or freight
documentation.

4.2. Transport

The product is delivered by the manufacturer/shipping
agency in suitable packaging. This normally precludes the
possibility of damage occurring during transport and stor-
age. The packaging should be stored in a safe place if the
location used is changed frequently.

4.3. Storage

Newly supplied products are prepared that they can be
stored for at 1 year. The product should be cleaned thor-
oughly before interim storage.
The following should be taken into consideration for stor-
age:
Place the product on a firm surface and secure it
against falling over.
We recommend a dry, frost-protected room with a
temperature of between 5 °C and 25 °C for storage.
The machine must be protected from direct sunlight,
heat, dust, and frost.
If the product has been stored for a long period of
time it should be cleaned of impurities such as dust
and oil deposits before start-up
If these rules are observed, your product can be stored
for a longer period. Please remember that elastomer parts
and coatings become brittle naturally. If the product is
to be stored for longer than 6 months, we recommend
checking these parts and replacing them as necessary.
Please consult the manufacturer.

4.4. Returning to the supplier

Products which are delivered to the plant must be clean
and correctly packaged. In this context, clean means that
impurities have been removed and decontaminated if it
has been used with materials which are hazardous to
health. The packaging must protect the product against
damage. Please contact the manufacturer before return-
ing!

5. Setup and Commissioning

5.1. General

To prevent damage to the pump when setting up and in
operation, the following points are to be followed:
The setup work is to be carried out by qualified staff,
following the safety provisions.
Before setting up, the pump is to be investigated for
any damage.
Where there are level control systems, ensure mini-
mum water coverage.
Air pockets in the pump housing and pipework must
be avoided (by suitable ventilation equipment or by
slightly slanting the pump).
Protect the pump from frost.
The electricity lines of the pump must be laid in such
a way that it operates without any risk and it is simple
to install/remove.
Dry running is strictly prohibited. We recommend a
level control system for this.
Carry the pump by the handle and drain with a cable
or a chain into the conveying medium, not by the ca-
ble.
When the ground is muddy prevent stones or similar
from being located underneath the pump, to prevent
sinking in.
When using a hose, ensure that it can be laid without
kinking.

5.2. Installation

Danger from falling!
When installing the pump and its accessories, work
is done directly on the edge of the basin. If you do
not pay attention or wear improper footwear, this can
lead to falls. There is danger of death! Take all the
safety measures to prevent this.
The pumps must be installed according to the examples.
For installations to EN 12056-4, the pressure line must
be guided via the locally established backing-up level and
secured with a back-flow preventer.
For longer pressure line, to avoid loses of pipe frictions, a
correspondingly large pipe cross-section is to be selected.
Continuous ventilation of the pump housing may be re-
quired if the pump often goes dry (the pressure joint
comes out). This happens, for example, if the remaining
water in the collecting chamber evaporates or the pump
goes into sloshing operation during the test run.
To ventilate the pump housing, a ventilation valve (item 11
/ chapter 3.3 Structure) is integrated into the pump hous-
ing. For cohesive/viscous media, the ventilation screw
(item 7) on the pump housing can also be removed.
Automatic Float Circuit
By directly connecting the float switch into the pump,
the pump switches on automatically if this is manual-
ly triggered. Therefore, ensure that the pump is not
connected when you are working on it.
