6 Operation

6.1 Operation without DMX controller

For operation without DMX controller the spotlight
may radiate different colours at maximum bright-
ness:
1) Press the button MODE (6) so many times until
the display (7) shows "C xx". The C stands for
"colour".
2) Adjust the desired colour with the buttons UP
and DOWN (8). The display shows the corre-
sponding number:

6.2 Parallel control of several spotlights
(slave mode)
Several PARL-1DMX/. . and PARL-10DMX/. . may
be interconnected (also mixed). Then the main unit
(master) may control all slave units in sync.
For connection, special cables for high data
flow should be used. Standard microphone cables
with screening and a minimum cross section of
2 × 0.22 mm 2 and with a capacity as low as possi-
ble can only be recommended for a total cable
length of up to 100 m. For cable lengths exceeding

150 m it is recommended to insert a DMX level
matching amplifier (e. g. SR-103DMX from "img
Stage Line").
1) Connect the jack DMX OUT (2) of the master
unit via a 3-pole cable with XLR connections to
the jack DMX IN (5) of the first slave unit.
2) Connect the jack DMX OUT of the first slave unit
to the jack DMX IN of the second slave unit etc.
until all units are connected in a chain.
3) Especially for long connection cables it is rec-
ommended to terminate the DMX output of the
last unit of the chain with a 120 Ω resistor
(> 0.3 W): Connect a corresponding terminating
plug (e. g. DLT-123 from "img Stage Line") to the
DMX output jack.
4) Adjust the slave units to the slave mode. For this
purpose press the button MODE (6) so many
times until the display (7) shows "SLA".

6.3 Operation with DMX controller

For operation via a light controller with DMX512
protocol (e. g. DMX-1440 or DMX-510USB from
"img Stage Line"), the spotlight is equipped with
four DMX control channels. DMX is short for Digital
Multiplex and means digital control of several DMX
units via a common control line. The functions of
the channels and the DMX values can be found in
chapter 6.3.3.

6.3.1 DMX connection

For the DMX connection, the unit is provided with
3-pole XLR jacks of the following pin configuration:
pin 1 = ground, 2 = DMX-, 3 = DMX+
For connection, special cables for high data flow
should be used. Standard microphone cables with
screening and a minimum cross section of 2 ×
0.22 mm 2 and with a capacity as low as possible
can only be recommended for a total cable length
of up to 100 m. For cable lengths exceeding 150 m
it is recommended to insert a DMX level matching
amplifier (e. g. SR-103DMX from "img Stage Line").
1) Connect the jack DMX IN (5) to the DMX output
of the light controller.
2) Connect the jack DMX OUT (2) to the DMX input
of the following spotlight or the following light
effect unit; connect its output again to the input
of the following DMX unit, etc. until all DMX-con-
trolled units have been connected in a chain.
3) Terminate the DMX output of the last DMX unit
in the chain with a 120 Ω resistor (> 0.3 W): Con-
nect a corresponding terminating plug (e. g.
DLT-123 from "img Stage Line") to the DMX out-
put.
