Prior to initial use

IMPORTANT: At first, prepare the natural stone grill plate
• Before using the natural stone grill plate for the first time, it has to be prepared for the future use
to prevent stress cracks. This treatment gives the stone its uniform colour.
• Sparingly rub the stone plate with a heat-resistant oil or grease, like e. g. refined peanut oil. Do not use cold-
pressed oil (e. g. olive oil) or butter.
• Put the stone plate in the oven (250 °C) and heat it up for at least thirty minutes. Afterwards let the stone
plate cool down in the switched off oven.
NOTE: Stone is a natural material and is not chemically treated. Therefore small cracks and a
darker colour due to usage are normal and no reason for complaint (excluded from warranty
claims).
• Wipe the casing with a damp cloth and dry it thoroughly. Clean the pans, the spatulas, the reversing grill
plates as well as the natural stone grill plate with warm water and a mild detergent prior to initial use.
• Prior to initial use, the protective coating of the heating elements must be burnt-in. To do so, heat up
the appliance – without pans! – for approx. 10 minutes at full power. Please do not be daunted by the slight
and harmless development of smoke and smell which will occur only for a short while. During this time take
care for a good ventilation of the room.
