prism-surface
The refracometer determines the antifreeze concentrati-
on of water propylene glycol-, water etyl glycol mixtures
and the density of water battery acid mixtures.
Measuring range:
Propylenglykol 0° bis -50 °C
Ethylenglykol 0° bis -50 °C
Batteryacid
1,15-1,30 g/cm³
The precision of the measurement does not really depend
on the temperature of the medium, but the best results can
be gained at a temperature of 20 °C.
Maintenance
To provide a flawless operation of your refractometer it
should be cleaned after each measurement with the enc-
losed cleaning tissue. If the prism-surface is polluted clean
it with etyl alcohol.
Do not clean the device under running water becau-
se it is protected against dripping water, but not
waterproof.
To callibrate the refractometer put 1-2 drops
of distilled water onto the prism-surface
and close the cover. Hold the shaped
end of the refractometer against the
light. After that adjust the boudary line
with the screwdriver until it corresponds
with the water line (0-line)
Practical appliance
Put 1-2 drops of the fluid onto the prismn surface. Then
close the cover and press it slightly onto the surface.
Hold the shapend end against the light and turn the ocular
until the border lines are clearly visible.
The freezing point of the heat transfer medium or the den-
sity of the battery acid can now be read off.
