5. Installing a hard disk into a
alternation-plug-in-unit
It is possible to install a UW-/Wide-SCSI-hard disk with a 68polarity SCSI-connec-
tion to the alternation-plug-in-unit.
• Remove the cover on the upper side of the alternation-plug-in-unit. On the left
upper front side is a marking „OPEN" with an arrow. On this side is a small hook
which can be bend out (2mm), so you can open the cover.
Do not use violence while you open the cover, hook go may dama-
ged. You will loose guarantee!
Please take the bag with the screws and the keys out.
• If you want to use the SCSI-ID-adjuster on the back side, you have to connect
both connection-cables in the alternation-plug-in-unit to the SCSI-ID-Pins of your
SCSI-hard disk.
You have to connect the 4core cable like it is following described:
all pins were connected with each other
Four Pins of the four SCSI-ID-jumper, which were exist on the UW-/Wide-SCSI-
hard disk, were connected together (earth). It is easy, with a measuring instru-
ment to find out which were connected together, the upper ones or the lower
ones.
Read the operating instructions of your hard-disk.
Connect the four-polarity plug like it is shown in the picture.
May the jumper were unfavourable placed on the hard disk, this could be the rea-
son that it is not possible to connect the plug. May the jumpers are to small.
So you cant adjust the hard disk over the external rotating switch from an other
SCSI-ID. Please adjust the SCSI-ID of the hard disk.
The SCSI-ID should be placed only one time on the SCSI-Bus. If the SCSI-ID 5 for
example, is occupied with the alternation- rack the SCSI-ID 5 it cant be used for
any other device. The SCSI-ID7 is usually occupied with the SCSI-Controller.

Pouvez-vous retirer et réinsérer la cartouche amovible facilement
et sans forcer ?
Dans le cas contraire, desserrer les quatre vis et contrôlez leur
longueur (voir ci-dessus).
Il se peut que vous ayez légèrement incliné le boîtier pour disque
dur en serrant les vis.
Revissez le boîtier pour disque dur.
• Reposez et vissez le boîtier de votre ordinateur.
• Retirez la cartouche amovible pour y installer un disque dur SCSI (voir point sui-
vant).
5. Installation d'un disque dur dans la
cartouche amovible
La cartouche amovible est compatible uniquement avec un disque dur SCSI UW ou
Wide doté d'un port 68 broches.
• Retirez le couvercle placé sur la face supérieure de la cartouche amovible. Sur la
face supérieure, vous pouvez voir à l'avant gauche l'indication "OPEN" ainsi qu'u-
ne flèche. A cet endroit de la cartouche se trouve un petit crochet que vous pou-
vez recourber d'environ 2 mm afin de retirer le couvercle.
Retirez le couvercle sans forcer, vous risquez sinon d'endomma-
ger le crochet : le couvercle ne tiendra plus correctement ! Ce
dommage n'est pas couvert par la garantie !
• Si vous voulez utiliser le dispositif d'ajustage de l'identification SCSI à l'arrière de
la cartouche amovible, vous devez branchez correctement les deux câbles de
raccordement à l'intérieur de la cartouche sur les broches d'identification SCSI de
votre disque dur SCSI.
Branchez le câble quatre conducteurs sur les broches d'identification SCSI en
procédant de la manière suivante :
Masse/terre(GND), toutes les broches liées ensemble
vert
jaune rouge brun
