Insert / replace rechargeable batteries
Only use rechargeable NiMH batteries. Do not use conventional,
non-rechargeable batteries.
• Slide the cover on the backside of the product upwards.
• Remove the round cover by turning it counter-clockwise.
• Pull out the rechargeable battery compartment.
• Insert 3 NiMH rechargeable batteries of type AA (not included), heeding correct
polarity. Observe the polarity markings on the rechargeable battery compartment.
• There is an arrow imprint on the side of the rechargeable battery compartment.
Insert the rechargeable battery compartment into housing with the arrow head
pointing towards the housing.
Make sure that both metal contacts on the exterior of the rechargeable
battery compartment do not touch the metal rail located inside the housing.
This poses a risk of short-circuiting.
• Reattach the round cover and turn it clockwise. While doing so, push down the
rechargeable battery compartment. Make sure that the rechargeable battery
compartment container is locked in a proper way.
• Close the housing.
The product charges the rechargeable batteries starting at an illumination
level of 50 lx.

Installation

• Choose a suitable installation surface that provides the solar module on top of the
housing with sufficient sunlight. Otherwise the rechargeable batteries cannot be
charged.
• Mark the position of the mounting holes on the mounting surface, for example using
a pencil.
• Drill the three mounting holes into the surface.
When drilling or tightening screws, make sure not to damage any cables,
wires or pipes located underneath the surface.
• Attach the product to the surface using screws. If necessary, use the screws and
wall plugs provided.
• There is a hose located at the rear bottom of the housing, used as connection cable
dummy. Insert the hose into the suitable opening in the mounting bracket.
• Loosen the setscrew of the ball joint in order to tilt and pan the housing as desired.
Lock the position by tightening the setscrew.

Operation

• The solar module on top of the product will charge the 3 rechargeable batteries if
there is sufficient sunlight available.
• Once a person enters the detection range at an ambient illuminance of >4 lx, the red
LED starts flashing 15 times.
• Once a person enters the detection range during darkness (<4 lx), the red LED starts
flashing 15 times. At the same time a white light lights up and turns off again after
15 seconds.

Maintenance and cleaning

• Do not use any aggressive cleaning agents, rubbing alcohol or other chemical
solutions as they can cause damage to the housing and malfunctioning.
• Never point a water jet, for example such of high-pressure cleaning equipment, at
the lamp, as that could damage the seals!
• Do not apply too much force when cleaning the housing or light emitting aperture in
order to avoid scratching.
• Besides occasional cleaning, the device is maintenance-free.
• Use a clean, soft and dry cloth to clean the housing. For more stubborn dirt, slightly
moisten the cloth with a little lukewarm water.
• Regularly remove dust from the solar module, as otherwise the charging current
will be reduced.
Disposal
a) Product
Electronic devices are recyclable waste and must not be disposed of in the
household waste.
At the end of its service life, dispose of the product according to the
relevant statutory regulations.
Remove any inserted rechargeable batteries and dispose of them
separately from the product.
b) Rechargeable batteries
You as the end user are required by law (Battery Ordinance) to return all used
rechargeable batteries. Disposing of them in the household waste is prohibited.
Contaminated rechargeable batteries are labelled with this symbol to
indicate that disposal in the domestic waste is forbidden. The designations
for the heavy metals involved are: Cd = Cadmium, Hg = Mercury, Pb = Lead
(name on rechargeable batteries, e.g. below the trash icon on the left).
Used rechargeable batteries can be returned to collection points in your
municipality, our stores or wherever rechargeable batteries are sold.
You thus fulfil your statutory obligations and contribute to the protection of the
environment.
