Notes on batteries and rechargeable batteries
• Batteries/rechargeable batteries must be kept out of the reach of children.
• Do not let batteries/rechargeable batteries lie around openly. There is a risk of bat-
teries being swallowed by children or pets. If they are swallowed, consult a doctor
immediately.
• Replace a flat battery/rechargeable battery in good time since flat or old batteries/
rechargeable batteries can leak.
• Leaking or damaged batteries/rechargeable batteries may cause acid burns when
coming into contact with skin, therefore use suitable protective gloves.
• Liquids leaking from batteries/rechargeable batteries are very chemically aggres-
sive. Objects or surfaces coming into contact with these liquids might be consider-
ably damaged. Thus, store batteries/rechargeable batteries in a suitable location.
• Normal/rechargeable batteries must not be short-circuited, opened or thrown into a
fire. There is a risk of explosion!
• Do not recharge normal, non-rechargeable batteries; there is a risk of explosion!
• Check that the polarity is correct when inserting the battery/rechargeable battery
(pay attention to plus/+ and minus/-).
It is possible to operate the product with a rechargeable battery. However,
the operating time and the display contrast are greatly reduced due to the
lower voltage (battery = 1.5 V, rechargeable battery = 1.2 V).
We therefore recommend to use high-quality alkaline batteries only instead
of rechargeable batteries to operate the product.

Battery compartment cover
Getting started
• Open the battery compartment by folding its cover downwards.
• Insert a battery of type AA/Mignon with correct polarity into the battery compart-
ment (observe positive/+ and negative/-). All display segments appear briefly on the
display; then the first measured value for temperature and air humidity will be dis-
played.
• Close the battery compartment again.
• Place the product on a stable and level surface. Protect valuable furniture surfaces
by using a suitable mat to prevent scratches.
For operation, choose a place that is not directly exposed to the sun and not
located close to a radiator. This will lead to a false temperature or air humid-
ity indication.
