2. Product Description

The appliance offers the following performance features: LED
display, alarm function, SNOOZE function and DCF-controlled
time of day. Advantages of these features include the fact that
the LED display can be read even in the dark without additional
lighting.
There is no need to set the clock manually. When it receives the
DCF signal, the clock is automatically synchronised with the
caesium clock at the PTB Physics Institute in Braunschweig in
order to ensure an extremely accurate clock reading.
The SNOOZE function offers the facility of switching off the
alarm for 5-minute periods.

3. Safety Instructions and Hazard Warnings

• The power supply unit is built to Class II.
• Only use a 230 V AC public electricity supply mains socket out-
let as a power source. Never attempt to operate the appliance
at any other voltage.
• Only use the supplied power supply unit to power the appli-
ance.
• Ensure that all electrical connections and connecting leads be-
tween the devices conform to specifications and are in accor-
dance with the operating instructions.
• Never plug in or unplug the mains plug of the power supply
unit if your hands are wet.
• Never pull the power cord to unplug from the mains, always
remove the mains plug from the main socket outlet by grip-
ping the surfaces of the plug provided for this purpose.
• When installing the appliance, make sure that the power cord
is not pinched or damaged by sharp edges.

• If the appliance is not to be used for a relatively long period of
time, disconnect the mains plug from the mains socket outlet
and remove the battery from the battery compartment.
• Always disconnect the mains plug from the mains socket out-
let before cleaning the appliance.
• As a safety precaution, disconnect the mains plug from the
mains socket outlet during thunderstorms.
• Never repair defective connecting leads. Disconnect the appli-
ance from the mains and take it to a specialist repair shop.
• When safe operation is obviously no longer possible, the
appliance should be taken out of use and secured from being
accidentally switched on.
It can be assumed that safe operation is no longer possible
when:
- there is visible damage to the appliance or a power cord
- the appliance no longer works
- the appliance has been stored for an extended period in un-
suitable conditions
- the appliance has been exposed to adverse transport condi-
tions.
• Electrical appliances and batteries should be kept out of reach
of children.
• Never spill liquid on the appliance because this creates an
extremely high risk of fire or fatal electric shock. If liquid is
accidentally spilled onto the appliance, remove the plug of the
power supply unit from the mains socket outlet immediately
and obtain advice from a skilled technician.
• The appliance is not splash-proof or resistant to drips.
• Avoid subjecting the appliance to high levels of mechanical
stress.
• The appliance should not be exposed to high temperatures,
severe vibration or high humidity.
