Attention!
Use suitable voltage-stable installation cables as instrument and
supply cables with a cross section of not more than max. 0.25
sq.mm, in order to avoid short-circuits at the soldering connec-
tions with adjacent soldering eyes.
5.3 Commissioning
Before first commissioning, ensure that the unit is adequately
insulated and that air and creep distances are observed in accor-
dance with VDE 410 or VDE 1010 and IEC-1-1. Connect a control-
led (stabilised) voltage of 9 VDC (DC = direct voltage) to the sup-
ply input, ensuring that you observe the correct polarity ("+" and
"-").
Attention!
Simultaneous supply of the measuring device and measurement
of the supply voltage is not possible with this unit. The control
cabinet, the tableau or similar housing must always remain clo-
sed while the panelmeter is being operated.
In order to ensure relatively problem-free use/operation, avoid
- excessive temperature variations,
- high air humidity,
- strong vibrations,
- excessive ambient temperatures,
- the proximity of active generators, strong magnetic (loud-
speakers), electromagnetic (motors, transformers, relay trans-
mitters) and static (charges/discharges) fields, as all the above-
mentioned points can lead to an unstable display or to exces.

Attention!
The measuring device/unit must be disconnected from the mea-
suring and supply circuit (9 V), before you change settings in
accordance with 5.1.
5.4 Direct voltage measurement (VDC)
Switch the measuring circuit on and observe the panelmeter dis-
play. The symbol "-" appears before the measured value in the
display, then a negative voltage is indicated (or the polarity of
the instrument leads is switched).
Attention!
1. Never exceed the max. permissible input values. Depending
upon the configuration of the solder bridges at the rear of the
panelmeter these are 200 mVDC, 2 VDC, 20 DCV, 200 VDC or
600 VDC.
2. Use caution with voltages exceeding 25 VAC or 35 VDC. Do
not touch any circuits or circuit components in which voltages
greater than 25 VAC or 35 VDC occur or may occur.

5.5 Overload indicator

If the measured voltage exceeds the max. permissible input
value, or if a measuring range is exceeded, instead of the mea-
sured value a "1" appears or, with the negative symbol, a
"-1" in the display for overload with the decimal point and the
unit of measurement set accordingly.
5.6 Maintenance
The panelmeter is maintenance-free, apart from occasional clea-
ning of the display window. Use a clean, lint-free, anti-static, dry
cloth for cleaning.
