Intended use
The purpose of the radio table clock is to decode the DCF radio signal from the caesium atomic
clock in Braunschweig (Germany), to display the time and date as well as to provide an alarm
function.
The device may only be used indoors. Contact with moisture, for example in bathrooms, must
be avoided.
The radio table clock is designed exclusively for use with batteries. Do not use any other power
supply. The correct battery type is specifi ed in the "Technical data" section.
Any use other than described above is not permitted and can damage the product. In addition,
it can lead to dangers such as short-circuit, fi re and electrical shock.
This product complies with the applicable National and European regulations.

the polarity. The correct polarity is indicated in the battery compartment.
• Close the battery compartment (7) again.
• The clock now starts searching for the DCF signal and tries to detect the signal.
• If the display contrast fades, the battery is low and has to be replaced as described above.
• For a long battery life, only use alkaline batteries.

Explanation of the Symbols

DCF Reception
Directly after the battery is inserted, the clock makes a fi rst attempt to receive the DCF signal.
After a successful DCF reception, the clock is automatically set to the current time.
Reception attempts for daily automatic synchronisation with the DCF time are done several
times a day. One successful reception per day is suffi cient to keep the deviation to less than
1 second.
The DCF signal is encoded and transmitted via a DCF transmitter in Mainfl ingen (near Frank-
furt). Its range is up to 1500 km and, under ideal reception conditions, even up to 2000 km.
Among other things, the DCF signal includes the precise time (theoretical deviation of 1 second
in a million years!) and the date.
This means there is no need to set summer and winter time manually.
Installation/Setup
• Set up the clock on a horizontal and stable surface.
The use of rechargeable batteries leads to a shorter operating time, because of the
lower voltage and capacity.

The recognition and interpretation of the DCF signal can take 3-5 minutes. Do not
move the radio table clock during this time. Do not press any buttons or switches!
Bad reception can be caused, for example, by metalized insulated glass, reinforced
concrete buildings, coated special wallpapers, proximity to electronic devices, or
installation in cellars.
If the clock has not adjusted to the current time after 10 minutes, change the location
of the radio table clock.
