Installation

Pay attention to the information in chapter „Preparations for Installation"!
• Fasten the mounting bracket for the LED floodlight
using at least two screws to a suitable location on the
wall.
For easier installation, the mounting bracket
can be removed from the LED floodlight.
Without fail, pay attention to the correct mounting position for the LED floodlight; only
mount it with the PIR motion detector pointing downwards.
When drilling the mounting holes or screwing into place, ensure that no existing
electrical cable, gas or water pipes are damaged!
• The ideal installation height is between 2.5
and 3m depending where it is installed and
the ambient conditions (layout of access
routes to be monitored etc).
The vertical detection range of the PIR
motion detector (see figure on the right) is
approx. 30°; the horizontal detection range
is approx. 90°.
The maximum range of the PIR motion detector is 7-15m. This is dependent on the sensitivity
settings (see chapter „Function and adjustment of the motion detector"), the size of the object
(or size of the area with differing temperature) and the direction of movement of the object inside
the detection area.
• Remove the cover on the back of the LED floodlight, by unscrewing all four fixing screws from
the cover.
• Remove the insulation on the mains cable to the required length.
• Loosen the cap nut for the cable gland; put the mains cable through the cable gland.
• Screw the cable gland's cap nut tight so the rubber seal inside the cable gland is sealed. The
cable gland also serves as strain relief.
• Connect the mains cable using the terminal strip in the LED floodlight (brown cable = L, blue
cable = N, green/yellow cable = PE/earth, ground symbol).
The earth protection cable must be connected!
If the LED floodlight is replacing an existing light and no protective earth conductor
is available, the LED floodlight must not be installed. First, draw a new mains cable.
Where the protective earth is not connected, a fault with the mains voltage might
result in the metal housing of the LED floodlight becoming live. There is a risk of a
life-threatening electric shock!
Make sure only the minimum required length of the cable is stripped; otherwise it
could cause a short-circuit.
Also check the other screw connections on the terminal strip (for the connection
cables for the light and PIR) and tighten them if necessary.
• Attach the cover previously removed (label „UP" points towards the top of the LED floodlight)
and screw it firmly in place again with 4 screws.
• Secure the LED floodlight in the installation place (e.g. screw to the separately fastened moun-
ting bracket).
• Aim the PIR motion detector at the area to be monitored.
Caution!
The housing of the PIR motion detector does not have protection against twisting. If the
PIR motion detector is rotated to the right or left by more than 180°, the connection
cable inside may be damaged! This may result in a risk for short-circuiting; further-
more, the warranty will be void!
Function and Adjustment of the Motion Detector
The motion detector responds to temperature changes within the detection range, e.g. if a per-
son, an animal or a car enters the detection area.
After switching on the mains voltage, it takes about 30-60 seconds until the motion detector has
adjusted to the background temperature and is able to recognise changes in temperature within
the detection area..
When the detection range has to be limited, the corresponding parts of the convex
lens on the PIR motion detector can be covered with non-translucent insulation tape.
There are 3 adjustment knobs on the bottom part of the PIR motion detector:
• Rotary knob „LUX" Setting the brightness sensor
With this control knob, the brightness (e.g. dusk) can be set, at which the PIR motion detector
is activated. The further the knob is turned anti-clockwise (towards the „moon" symbol), the
later this will be.
If the PIR motion detector is to be active while it is still light, turn the knob clockwise (towards
the „sun" symbol).
• Rotary knob „TIME" Setting the activation time
Using this control, you can set the duration for the LED light's on-time. Turning the control coun-
ter clockwise lengthens the on-time, turning clockwise shortens it. The on-time can be adjusted
from 7 seconds to 12 minutes.
• Rotary knob „SENS" Setting the sensitivity
The more the control is turned to the right, the more sensitive is the reaction of the motion
detector; i.e. it responds more quickly to slight temperature changes in the detection area.

Maintenance and Care

• The LED floodlight does not require maintenance. You should occasionally clean the glass plate
on the light and the diffusion disc on the PIR motion detector, to ensure proper functioning.
7
• Switch off the LED floodlight or disconnect it from the mains voltage before cleaning.
Let it cool down sufficiently.
• The exterior of the LED floodlight should only be wiped with a clean, soft, dry cloth. Where it
becomes very dirty, use a cloth which is slightly moistened with lukewarm water.
Do not use aggressive cleaning agents or chemical solutions that could damage the housing
(discolouring) or impair operation.
Do not press too hard on the housing, as scratches might appear.

If you set the sensitivity too high, even small animals or the motion of leaves (on bushes
or trees) may activate the PIR motion detector, unintentionally activating the LED light.
Otherwise, the PIR motion detector might accidentally be activated, danger for blin-
ding and eye damage!
Never spray water e.g. with a garden hose, at the LED floodlight!
Please dispose of the device when it is no longer of use, according to the current sta-
tutory requirements.
