9. DMX connection

The controller supports the operation of a maximum of 32 devices in a DMX chain or otherwise will be
overloaded.
The DMX chain should not exceed a maximum length of 200 m.
The use of XLR microphone cables can interfere with the DMX signal transmission. If such is the case,
use special DMX high frequency cables.
a) Connecting a DMX controller
The device only supports the connection to a DMX controller with DMX-512 protocol. In order to use all
effects, the controller must feature 10 free control channels.
• Connect the DMX INPUT (10) to the output of the DMX controller.
• Connect the DMX OUTPUT (11) to the DMX input of the subsequent device.
• Proceed the same way for all other devices within the DMX chain.
• If the laser device is the last or the only device in the DMX chain, insert an XLR plug with a terminating resistor
(120 Ω / 0.25 W) between pin 2 and pin 3 of the DMX OUTPUT.
Pin assignment of the DMX connection: pin 1 = ground / pin 2 = (–) / pin 3 = (+).
Never connect the GND ground wire to the housing ground of the device, as this could cause ground loops, which
in return could interrupt signal transmission.
