6 Operation of the Microphones
6.1 Power supply / settings
1) Push the latch (7) of the battery compartment
cover towards the microphone head to unlock
the cover, then remove the cover.
2) Two small switches are provided in the battery
compartment; to set the switches, use a narrow
object (e. g. screwdriver):
– Switch CHANNEL (5) to select the transmis-
sion channel: Model IRS-200HT is factory-
set to channel A; model IRS-202HT to chan-
nel B. To change the channel, set the switch
accordingly.
– Switch POWER (6) to select the transmission
power: In the position HI a range of up to 20 m
is reached; in the position LOW a range of up
to 15 m. With a higher transmission power,
however, the battery life will decrease due to
faster discharge.
3) Insert two 1.5 V batteries or rechargeable 1.2 V
NiMH batteries of size AA into the battery com-
partment. Always observe the correct polarity
(
marking inside the compartment). Replace
the cover.
If the microphone is not in use for a longer
period of time, remove the batteries to prevent
damage due to battery leakage.
6.2 Carrying strap IRS-200H (optional)
The carrying strap IRS-200H available as an
accessory and consisting of a strap of adjustable
length and a removable belt clip allows you to wear
the microphone around your neck or to attach it to
your clothes. To insert the microphone into the car-
rying strap, unscrew the microphone head, replace
the ring underneath it in front of the IR LEDs (1) by
the ring on the strap, then screw on the microphone
head again.

6.3 Connection of an audio source
An input jack (3) for an audio source is provided on
the lower side of the IRS-2..HT. When this jack is
connected, the internal microphone will be deacti-
vated.
The 3.5 mm jack is primarily provided for connect-
ing a tie clip microphone or headband microphone,
e. g. if you wear the IRS-2..HT on your body
(
chapter 6.2) and want to keep your hands free
while you are talking. Connect the tie clip / head-
band microphone via a mono plug; the audio signal
and the operating voltage of the microphone will be
routed via the tip of the plug.
As an alternative, it is possible to connect a
portable audio unit with line level (e. g. MP3
player). Due to the wiring of the jack (
Specifications), however, the right channel will be
reproduced at a lower volume than the left channel
if you connect the unit via a stereo plug.

7 Operation

CAUTION Never adjust the active speaker sys-
tem to a very high volume. Perma-
nent high volumes may damage your
hearing! Your ear will get accus-
tomed to high volumes which do not
seem to be that high after some time.
Therefore, do not further increase a
high volume after getting used to it.
1) Prior to switching on the active speaker system,
fully turn back the control MASTER (20).
2) Set the POWER switch (29) to "ON". The switch
will be illuminated during operation. If it starts
flashing during battery operation, the battery is
almost discharged. Recharge it as soon as pos-
sible (
chapter 5.1); otherwise the unit will be
switched off automatically after a short time to
protect the battery against deep discharge.
3) Switch on the audio sources used (detailed
information concerning operation with a micro-
phone IRS-2..HT
4) Advance the control MASTER for the total vol-
ume to such an extent that the subsequent set-
tings are reproduced well via the speaker.
5) Mix the signals of the audio sources with their
volume controls or fade them in and out as
desired:
– for the transmission channel A: the black con-
trol (15) on the receiver unit
– for the transmission channel B: the grey con-
trol (19) on the receiver unit
– for the microphone at the input MIC IN (26):
the control MIC (24)
– for the unit at the input AUX IN (27): the con-
trol AUX IN (23)
6) Adjust the sound with the control TONE (21).
