6. NOTES ON BATTERIES

• Batteries must be kept out of the reach of children.
• When inserting the batteries, pay attention to the correct polarity (observe positive/+ and negative/-).
• Do not leave batteries lying around carelessly. There is a risk of them being swallowed by children or pets.
If swallowed, consult a doctor immediately, there is a mortal danger!
• Batteries must not be short-circuited, dismantled or thrown into a fire. There is a risk of fire and explosion!
• Chemical liquids may leak from outdated or spent batteries which will damage the device. Therefore,
remove the batteries inserted in the device if it is not to be used for longer periods of time (e.g. during
storage).
• Leaking or damaged batteries may cause caustic burns when in contact with the skin. In such cases
please use suitable protective gloves.
• Liquids leaking from batteries are chemically very aggressive. Objects or surfaces in contact with these
liquids might get considerably damaged. Therefore, store batteries in an appropriate location.
• Always replace the whole set of batteries. Do not mix batteries with different charging states (e.g. full and
half-full batteries).
Only insert regular batteries in the measuring device and not rechargeable units.
