Meaning of symbols
The symbol with the lightning in the triangle is used if there is a risk to your
health, e.g. due to an electric shock.
The exclamation mark indicates specific risks associated with handling,
function and use.
The "arrow" symbol indicates special tips and operating information.
The product must only be installed and used in dry, enclosed indoor
areas. The product must not become damp or wet as this creates the risk
of a fatal electric shock!
This symbol indicates that this product is built according to protection
class II. It is equipped with reinforced or dual insulation between the
mains circuit and the output voltage.
The product is constructed according to protection class 3. Protection class
III includes electrical devices with a low voltage power supply (< 50 Volts)
using a safety transformer or batteries/rechargeable batteries/solar
power etc. Devices in protection class III have no connection for
protective insulation - they must not be connected to the protective earth.
This symbol reminds you to read the operating instructions included with
the product.
Safety instructions
Read the operating instructions carefully and especially observe the safety
information. If you do not follow the safety instructions and information on
proper handling in this manual, we assume no liability for any resulting
personal injury or damage to property. Such cases will invalidate the
warranty/guarantee.
• The device is not a toy. Keep it out of the reach of children and pets.
• Do not leave packaging material lying around carelessly. This may
become dangerous playing material for children.
• Protect the product from extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, strong
jolts, high humidity, moisture, flammable gases, vapours and solvents.
• Do not place the product under any mechanical stress.
• If it is no longer possible to operate the product safely, take it out of
operation and protect it from any accidental use. Safe operation can no
longer be guaranteed if the product:
- is visibly damaged,
- is no longer working properly,
- has been stored for extended periods in poor ambient conditions or
- has been subjected to any serious transport-related stresses.
• Please handle the product carefully. Jolts, impacts or a fall even from a
low height can damage the product.
• Also observe the safety and operating instructions of any other devices
which are connected to the product.
• Before connecting to the mains, make sure that your local AC mains
voltage matches the specifications on the nameplate. Never try to operate
the product using another type of voltage as this will destroy the product.
• Never cover the product. The surface gets hot; covering the product not
only constitutes a fire hazard but may also cause it to overheat, which
could damage the product.
• The light gets very hot. Let it cool down sufficiently before you touch it.
• Keep the product away from flammable materials and objects.
• Do not hang or secure any objects (e.g. decorations) to the product.
• In the event of any damage, particularly on the housing (seal!), which
means that the product can no longer be operated safely, turn off the
power supply immediately, discontinue use and ensure that the product
is not used again!
• In order to avoid the risk of fire and prevent eye injuries, do not look
directly at the light source and never point the light directly at people or
animals!
• The product is constructed according to protection class III.
• The product has an IP44 weatherproof rating (rain and splashproof) and
can be mounted and operated both indoors and outdoors. However, never
mount the product in or under water.
• Always ensure that the power supply is disconnected before mounting the
product or carrying out other work on the product.
• Ensure that you mount the light in the correct mounting position (see
"Mounting and connection" section), otherwise there is a risk of a fatal
electric shock!
• The product must only be used when mounted in a fixed location. Never
mount the product in vehicles.
• Do not mount and use the product in rooms or in adverse environmental
conditions that contain or may contain flammable gases, vapours or dust!
There is a risk of explosion!
• The power adapter is constructed according to protection class II. Only a
proper mains socket (230 V/AC, 50 Hz) connected to the public supply net
may be used as a power supply.
• Never pour any liquids over electrical devices or put objects filled with
liquid right next to the device. If liquid or objects do enter the interior of
the device, first power down the respective socket (e.g. switch off circuit
breaker) and then pull the mains plug from the mains socket. Discontinue
use and take the product to a specialist workshop.
• Never use the product immediately after it has been brought from a cold
room into a warm one. The condensation generated could destroy the
product. The plug-in power supply unit could also result in a fatal electric
shock! Allow the product to reach room temperature before connecting
it to the power supply and putting it to use. This may take several hours.
• Do not touch the power adapter if it is damaged; there is a risk of a fatal
electric shock! First, switch off the mains voltage to the mains socket
to which the wall plug transformer is connected (switch off at the
corresponding circuit breaker or remove the safety fuse, then switch off
at the corresponding RCD protective switch, so that all poles of the mains
socket are disconnected). You can then unplug the wall plug transformer
from the mains socket. Dispose of the faulty wall plug transformer in an
environmentally friendly way and discontinue use. Replace it with a wall
plug transformer of the same design.
• The mains outlet must be located near to the device and be easily
accessible.
• Only use the supplied mains adapter as a power supply.
• Only connect the power adapter to a normal mains socket connected to
the public supply. Before plugging in the power adapter, check whether
the voltage stated on the power adapter complies with the voltage of your
electricity supplier.
