Step-by-step instructions

3.1 Cavity preparation
1. Prepare the cavity so that no residual restorative material is left.
2. In cases where no preparation or instrumentation has been carried out, roughen the surface to
be bonded with a finishing bur.
3. For restoration of cervical lesions, finish enamel and dentin margins. Enamel margins should be
beveled to mask the restoration/tooth interface. This may require instrumentation.
4. Rinse surface with water spray.
5. Remove rinsing water completely by blowing gently with an air syringe or by blot-drying with a
(cotton) pellet. Do not desiccate the tooth substance.
6. Use a rubber dam or cotton rolls to isolate the cavity from contamination. If contamination oc-
curs, thoroughly clean with vigorous water spray and repeat steps 4 and 5.
3.2 Pulp protection
1. In deep cavities cover the dentin close to the pulp (less than 1 mm) with a hard-setting calcium
hydroxide liner (Dycal
cavity surface free for bonding.
3.3 Selective enamel etch or etch-and-rinse tooth conditioning/dentin pre-treatment
Prior to use, please see the Instructions for Use of the respective conditioner.
Application of 34%-36% phosphoric acid conditioner
➡ Selective enamel etch mode
1. After application of rubber dam or other suitable isolation technique, apply the respective condi-

2. Apply the respective conditioner to the enamel surfaces of the cavity.
3. For best results, condition enamel for at least 15 seconds.
➡ Etch-and-rinse mode
1. After application of rubber dam or other suitable isolation technique, apply the respective condi-
tioner.
2. Apply the respective conditioner to the cavity surfaces starting at the enamel margins.
3. For best results, condition enamel for at least 15 seconds and dentin for 15 seconds.
Rinsing and blot drying
1. Remove conditioner with aspirator tube and/or vigorous water spray and rinse conditioned areas
thoroughly for at least 15 seconds.
2. Remove rinsing water completely by blowing gently with an air syringe or by blot drying with a
cotton pellet. Do not desiccate dentin.
3. Proceed immediately to application of Xeno
Contamination.
Restoration failure.
