Minimum cross section of the chimney shall be 180 mm (~250 cm²) with the height of 5 to 6 m from
the bottom of the firebox. The chimney channel shall be tight, with even cross section over the
entire length and shall protrude 0.5 m above the roof ridge.
Prior to proceeding with the fireplace insert installation, consult a chimney sweeper, measure the
draught within the chimney and inspect the chimney to establish whether it is possible to use the
existing chimney for the fireplace connection.
Fireplace selection
The fireplace is available:
・without sheet metal shell
・with sheet metal shell
In both versions, two fans can be installed laterally to increase convective heat transfer into the
ambient air. Your selection of the more suitable version will depend on your heating requirements.
If you intend to heat only the room in which the fireplace is installed, we recommend that you
choose the version shown in Fig. 1, i.e. without sheet metal shell. In such a case, the ambient air
flows from the room through the grid near the floor into the masonry enclosure to be heated there
and then the hot air returns to the room through the upper grid. The heat is transferred from the front
side of the fireplace into the room by direct radiation and convection.
If you wish to heat additional rooms, we recommend that you choose the version shown in Fig. 2,
i.e. with sheet metal shell. With sheet metal shell, two ventilation pipe connection outlets are also
delivered. To install these two outlets, cut two openings at the appropriate places on the shell cover
and fix each outlet with 3 screws. Place the ventilation pipes Ø150 mm into the outlets and connect
them to the grids to transfer the heat in the desired direction. The ventilation pipes shall be either
installed in vertical position or shall have adequate rise for proper circulation. It is essential to
ensure air recirculation from the room, i.e. to install a grid near the floor level for air return (see Fig.
2).
It is important to take into account that installation of the fans has no significant effect on the heating
of the other room, i.e. to the air flow through the grids, but only ensures improved convective heat
transfer due to the air circulation inside the sheet metal shell.
Fireplace installation
The fireplace insert is designed for encasing in masonry enclosure.
The fireplace insert shall be installed only by qualified persons or companies specialised for such
works. When installing the fireplace, make sure that all applicable regulations and standards, as
well as these instructions regarding the size of the heated space, flue pipes, chimney, fresh air
supply to support combustion, air circulation around the fireplace and recirculation from the heated
space and fire protection are fully complied with.
Figure 1 shows an example how to encase a fireplace insert without sheet metal shell while the Fig.
2 shows how to encase a fireplace insert with sheet metal shell.
When coating the fireplace insert with elements made of stone, ceramics or similar (non-
combustible) materials, make sure that:
- air circulation is ensured between fireplace insert and the masonry enclosure wall. To
achieve this, minimum distance of 5 cm shall be provided between the fireplace insert and
the enclosure;
- Air supply and exhaust are provided below the insert and above the insert respectively,
through grids of a total area of 1000 cm2. (e.g. 3 grids 25 x 15 cm);
- Minimum clearance of 120 cm between the front side of the firebox and combustible
materials is provided.
- Upon the completion of the installation works a fireplace and chimney use certificate,
including flue and chimney inspection report/test certificates shall be obtained from a
chimney sweeper.
