summer operation
Carry out the following steps to change the
operating mode:
From winter to summer operation

to 0 (close);
_ if a return cock has been fitted, do not
close this, otherwise the appliance may be
destroyed;
_ switch on the immersion heater by means
of the switch at the bottom of the appliance
(S1), the indicator light (V1) comes on.
From summer to winter operation
_ switch off the immersion heater by means
of the switch at the bottom of the appli-
ance (S1), the indicator light (V1) goes out;
_ set the thermostatic valve to the required
temperature.
1.3.4 Taking the appliance out of

1.4 Safety instructions

Do not operate the appliance
– in rooms which present fire or explosion
risks as a result of chemicals, dust, gases
or fumes;
– in the immediate vicinity of pipes or con-
tainers which carry or contain combusti-
ble or potentially explosive substances;
– if the minimum distances from adjoining
surfaces of objects are not met.

What to do if ...?

• the radiator does not
get warm?
• the rapid heater switches
off too early?
• when the sevice techni-
cian has been called?
• The appliance must not under any circum-
stances be operated if work such as the lay-
ing of floor, polishing, sealing, cleaning with
petrol and maintenance of floors (spray,
wax) and similar is being carried out in the
room where it is installed. Afterwards, the
room must be sufficiently ventilated before
the heater is operated.
• The surface of the appliance gets hot when
it is in operating (approx. 80 °C). There is a
risk of burns!
• If it is intended that children or persons with
restricted physical, sensory, or mental capac-
ity should operate the appliance, it must be
ensured that this is only done after appropri-
ate instruction has been provided by the
person responsible for their safety.
Children should be supervised to ensure that
they do not play with the device.
Do not cover the device!
Combustible or inflammable objects, such
as containers of wax or petrol, aerosols and
such like, must not be placed on or in the
immediate vicinity of the appliance. Risk of
their catching fire!
• For objects of all kinds, such as newspapers,
furniture, curtains and drapes or other com-
bustible materials, the following minimum
distances from the heater must be observed:
Air exit grill
Hot-water heating element
• The surface of the BHC may be hot even
when it is switched off.
• This appliance is intended only for warming
or drying textiles which have been made
damp by water (not dry cleaning).
Check whether . . .
. . . the ON/OFF button (1) is switched on.
. . . the appropriate fuse in your fuse box has been connected or the residual current circuit breaker has been
switched off.
. . . the thermostatic valve has been opened.
. . . there is too much air in the heater. Bleed the heater via the air bleed cock (25).
Remove the cause!
If the heater still does not warm up, call a qualified installer.
Switch the radiator off and then on:
– the LED indicator "appliance heating up" flashes 3 times, the measuring probe is damaged.
Call a qualified installer.
– the LED indicator "appliance heating up" flashes 5 times, the mains voltage to the appliance is too high.
Switch the heating element off. Call a qualified installer.
Check whether the dust filter (11) and/or air exit grill on the rapid heater is obstructed.
If necessary, clean them. (see part 1.5)
If the room temperature is too high, the rapid heater automatically switches off early for safety reasons, in
order to avoid damage. Above 1000 metres above mean sea level, this may occur repeatedly because of the
thinner air, which means that the air heats up more quickly.
In each case, take the following steps to restart the appliance::
– switch off the appliance by means of the ON/OFF button;
– wait at least 10 minutes before switching on the appliance again.
Inform the service technician about the
type of unit (Typ) and it's number (Nr.)
that is found on the rating plate (27)!
• Do not climb on the appliance (in particu-
lar, draw children's attention to this).
• No changes at the equipment must be made.
• Special caution is required, if the appliance
is used in the presence of children, invalid
persons or animals. Danger of injury!
• If a part of the appliance is damaged or has
fallen down or it was already defect/malfan-
ctioning, it may no be taken in to operation.

1.5 Care and maintenance

Clean the appliance regularly when it is cold,
using standard care agents. Avoid the use of
abrasive and corrosive agents.
As part of regular maintenance, we recom-
mend that you have the control and regulating
devices checked as well. Safety, control and
regulating devices should be checked by a
qualified installer not later than 10 years after
first start-up.

1.6 Protective dust filter

The rapid heater is fitted with a protective
dust filter which may cause the rapid heater
to shut down if it is heavily soiled (red indica-
tor light (V2) on the air exit grill of the rapid
heater lights up). Therefore, the filter must be
cleaned at regular intervals.
To clean the filter:
on all sides 200 mm
_ switch off the appliance by means of the
ON/OFF button (1);
on all sides 150 mm
_ press forward the filter (11) at the back of
the appliance and remove upwards;
_ clean the filter with a vacuum cleaner;
_ put the filter back in the appliance.
The appliance can be restarted 10 minutes
after the filter has been put back.
