Introduction | 7
Energy currently being generated by the PV system is
fed into the in-house grid (own consumption). If more
energy is available, the surplus energy is stored in the
storage system batteries, from where it can later be
fed on demand into the in-house grid.
If the battery system is fully charged, the energy is
fed into the public power grid.
During grid operation mode, the storage system is
permanently connected to the public power grid. The
emergency power cable to the in-house grid is
disconnected.
Emergency power mode
In the emergency power system mode, the storage
system provides energy to the in-house grid if there is
a failure in the public power grid. In this mode, the
storage system is temporarily separated from the
public power grid. In order to supply the house with
energy, the PV system must generate sufficient
energy and there must be a sufficient amount of
energy stored in the storage system batteries.
Emergency power supply takes place in a single
phase. Therefore, it is beneficial if the consumers that
should be supplied with energy in the event of a
power failure are in this phase. Once the public
power grid is available again, the storage system
automatically switches back to grid operation mode.
