Safety hints

Please pay attention to the following points and keep this user manual near to the system, so that you can read it up any
time.
• Only qualified and by company Thomashilfen authorised personnel is allowed to open the control unit. Before
opening pull the power plug!
• Keep the control unit away from liquids and open flames.
• In case of damages at the housing or at the supply line, firstly pull the power plug.
• Do not store the system at more than 50 °C (122 °F).
• In certain cases medical electrical instruments can be influenced by mobile phones. If there should be a disturbance
by a mobile, the system has to be switched off. Switch it on again after 10 seconds. If the problem still exists, please
call the service.
• Don't use ThevoActiv in humid rooms.
• ThevoActiv must not be used near to explosive gases.
• In case of damages to the system, do not use it until a repair has been carried out by authorised personnel.
Safety features
Under adverse operating conditions it can happen that the system shuts-off automatically to avoid damage of the device.
These safety features apply for short-circuits, disconnection of power and thermal overload.
Short-circuits / interruptions
In case of short-circuits in the actors due to mechanical damage, the short-circuits will be recognised by the system and
the wiring concerned will be switched-off. The "Error"-LED at the front of the casing lights up red and the system stops.
A re-start is possible by pressing the start button, whereas the defective will be excluded from the information flow, that
means this actor is no more functioning. The defective actor has to be exchanged at the first opportunity. The remaining
actors and the system remain fully functional. If the defective actor is located close to a "critical caring region", that
means directly at the prevention or treatment area, the exchange has to be made as soon as possible.
Thermal overload
In case of high operating temperatures due to unfavourable environmental conditions, as high outside temperature and
disturbance of the influx of fresh air, the system switches-off well in advance of damage. A continuing excessive operating
temperature inside the system otherwise would lead to early obsolescence. In this case, the operation will be stopped
and the red "Error-LED" on the front side of the system will flash. A re-start by pressing the start-button is possible only, if
the measured temperature inside the system has fallen below an uncritical threshold value, defined by the manufacturer.
The red LED stops flashing and the system is ready for operation again. In case of a repeated occurrence of temperature
switching-off, make sure there is a ventilating gap between the back plate of the system and the bed's foot end. Please
also make sure, whether this constructively intended gap is not blocked with linen or similar things.

Disposal of the system

ThevoActiv shall not be disposed with the normal household waste. Please turn to registered disposal companies or
return the system to your specialist dealer.
