Prevention and treatment of pressure sores

ThevoActiv has been developed for the prevention and treatment of pressure sores up to and including grade IV according
to EPUAP (European Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel).
ThevoActiv is particulary suited for the care of patients with neurological clinical pictures and pain symptoms. Besides an
excellent pressure distribution, the system is well suited for the perception and movement support.

Components

Control unit and keypad
ThevoActiv is operated by a control unit. The integrated microprocessor controls the movement of the actors. The
control unit can be hung up to the bed with two fixation clips.
Via the keypad different movement patterns can be set according to the demands of the patient. This ensures individual
prevention and treatment of pressure sores and support of body perception.

Active side element
The active side element does not only connect the single flexible fibreglass-tracks. It also offers the possibility to
integrate ThevoActiv into common nursing and hospital beds. The system is simply laid on the existing slatted frame
or inlay frame. Due to the flexible construction you can still use the head and foot adjustment as well as the height
adjustment of the bed.
Valves
The valves are small bellows integrated in the active side elements. Individually adjustable movement patterns are
achieved by feeding air through the supply pipe which slightly lifts the flexible fibreglass-tracks. This results in a relief
of pressure in the vulnerable areas.
Flexible fibreglass-track
These tracks are made from durable material by innovative glass fibre technology (pultrusion). In addition to a long
durability, they ensure optimal lying comfort, which has a favourable effect on the recreation of the patient.
Wing suspension
3 or 4 wing suspensions situated on one flexible fibreglass-track optimally adapt to the body contours of the patient.
An anatomically correct body alignment is ensured and sleep is influenced positively. Each wing suspension can be
moved or removed in order to support the individual preventive and therapeutic treatment in an optimum way.

Before starting up / assembling the system

Before starting up the ThevoActiv mobility bed, please follow below stated worksteps:
1. Plug the 2 cable harnesses of the system into the sockets 6 and 7 and on the back of the control unit. Right bed side
(img. 2, 6), left bed side (img. 2, 7).
2. Plug the air hose into the pump port (img. 3, 10) sideways at the control unit.
3. Plug the power plug in (img. 3, 11).
ThevoActiv is now ready for operation and for being used for the prevention and treatment of pressure ulcers. The start-
up of the different functions will be described in the following chapters. Please read them carefully to ensure optimum
prevention or treatment and to avoid failures.
