PIR Sensor Function
The PIR sensor integrated in the LED outdoor spotlight responds to temperature changes
within the detection range, e.g., if a person or an animal, with a temperature different from the
background, enters the detection range.
The range for detecting motion is determined by several factors:
• Installation position (height)
• The temperature difference between the moving object and the background (ambient)
• The size of the object
• The distance of the object from the PIR sensor
• Direction and speed of the movement
• Ambient temperature (summer/winter)
The horizontal detection angle of the PIR sensor is 130°, the vertical detection angle 60°. The
range depends on the above mentioned factors and is approx. 8 m.
Due to the operating principle applied, the detection of changes in temperature through glass
is not possible. Thus consider selecting an appropriate mounting site.
The PIR sensor should also not point to reflective surfaces (windows, water, etc.) or moving
objects (e.g. a road with vehicles going past) to avoid erroneous activation. Moreover, do not
point the detection range of the PIR sensor to a heat source or other lamps.
The recommended installation height is 1.8 to 2.5 m but is dependent on the local conditions.
The detection range can be adjusted by rotating the PIR sensor. You can also attach a trans-
parent cover (e.g. a piece of insulation tape) to the diffusion disc of the PIR sensor to limit the
detection range.
To ensure optimum movement detection, the LED outdoor spotlight must be placed so that the
object to be detected does not approach the PIR sensor directly but rather passes through the
detection area from left to right or vice versa.
Preparations for Installation and Connection
Please observe the chapter "Safety Instructions"!
Without fail, pay attention to the correct mounting position for the LED outdoor spot-
light; it may only be mounted such that the PIR sensor is underneath. The arrow
marking on the mounting plate must vertically point upwards.
Make sure you fix the LED outdoor spotlight to a solid base, e.g. masonry. Use screws
and, if necessary, screw anchors that are suitable for the surface.
The LED outdoor spotlight must be installed so that it is out of the reach of children.
Select the installation height depending on the local conditions.
The LED outdoor spotlight must be protected on the sub-distribution board by a
10/16 A-fuse. An earth fault circuit interrupter must be installed before this (FI protec-
tive switch).
Install the LED outdoor spotlight only when it is disconnected from the mains. It is not
sufficient to just turn off the light switch!
First switch off all poles of the mains supply by removing the fuse or switching off
at the circuit breaker; then also switch off the associated residual current circuit
breaker. Secure it against unauthorised reconnection, e.g., with a danger sign.
Check that the power cable is free of current using an appropriate tester.

Installation and connection

• First, unscrew the single screw on the bottom using a suitable screw driver (A).
• Then, press the locking button down (B) and pull the wall holder out of the loop (C).
• Loosen the two screws of the pull relief at the inside of the wall holder; take the bracket of
the pull relief off (D).
• Remove approx. 3 cm of the insulation of the installation cable and remove approx. 6 mm of
the insulation of the individual wires.
The installation cable you use may have a protective earth wire, which is not
required (either cut if off or cover the end of this wire carefully with insulation tape to
avoid short-circuits).
• Pierce the rubber seal with the installation cable (E).
Important!
Make sure that the hole in the rubber seal is not too big so that correct sealing is
ensured!
• Connect the mains supply wire to the screw terminals (F), brown cable = L/phase, blue cable
= N/neutral.
• Secure the installation cable with the pull relief (G).
• Mount the wall holder with two suitable screws and wall plugs (if required) to the wall (dis-
tance of the holes approx. 39.5 mm. The textile loop should be placed behind the wall holder
(do not cut!).
Pay attention to the correct mounting position of the wall holder! A arrow marking
on the inside and outside of the all holder must point vertically upwards; the cable
opening in the wall holder must point downwards!
Pay attention when drilling and tightening the screws that no cables or pipes are
damaged.
If the installation cable is not mounted in the wall, it can also be taken downwards
out o the wall holder. For this purpose, the housing is a bit thinner below the rubber
seal so that this semi-circular area can be broken out (e.g. with a small wire cutter or
pointed pliers).
• Press the locking button at the wall holder in (keep pressed) and attach the LED outdoor
spotlight in its correct orientation onto the wall holder (PIR sensor must point down) until the
locking button clicks in.
• Tighten the screw removed at the beginning so that the LED outdoor spotlight is fixed on
the wall holder.
• Switch on the voltage supply. The LED outdoor spotlight is not switched on for a few seconds;
the light then goes out and the LED outdoor spotlight is ready for operation.
The light is switched on automatically depending on the set threshold for the sur-
rounding brightness. Observe the information in the next chapter.
