5.3. Connection to water supply system.
The installation should be protected in accordance with applicable regulations. The equipment must be
connected in such a way as to allow its disconnection for maintenance without causing damage to the joints
and destructing the structure, and allow for exchange of the heater. Connections must not be bent.
Before filling, the coil(s) (except for service water stainless steel coil in the SPIRO model) should be flushed to
remove impurities that might damage the pump or the fixtures.
The coils (except for service water stainless steel coil in the SPIRO model) and the tank are designed to work
exclusively with safe liquid (e.g. water, propylene glycol), with the addition of corrosion inhibitor which meets
the following requirements:
- pH in 25°C within 8.7-9.2 for steel/copper installation, and >9.2 for steel installation.
- oxygen content in mg/l O2 <=0.1
If the coil is not used, both its connections should be closed.
Stainless steel coil for service water in the SPIRO model can be connected to the water supply, where the
water meets the requirements of Council Directive 98/83/EC of 3 November 1998 on the quality of water
intended for human consumption, as well as appropriate national legislation.
At the cold service water inlet, hot service water outlet of the stainless steel coil in the SPIRO model, dielectric
(plastic) fittings should be used in order to avoid electrolysis. Permissible working pressure and temperature for
different types of tanks and their components are provided in par. 2 Specifications.
Circulation pump should be installed in the coil(s) supply system (except for service water stainless steel coil in
the SPIRO model). The use of plastic tubes which are not adapted to temperatures higher than 110°C and the
pressure of 1.0 MPa as connections is forbidden.
In order to eliminate the effects of water hammer or sudden pressure fluctuations, membrane vessels for
service water should be installed in service water systems (stainless steel service water coil in the SPIRO
model).
Safety valve with initial opening pressure at 0.3 MPa should be installed on the connector stub or tank
ventilation (inlet connector's diameter at min. 3/4"). Install a safety valve with initial opening pressure at 0.6
MPa on the soils supply (inlet connector's diameter at min. 3/4"). The arrow on the safety valve must be
consistent with the direction of the water flow; the outlet of the safety valve cannot be directed upwards.
When the water is being heated or if excessive pressure occurs, water can flow out through the discharge
opening of the safety valve; consider the possibility to remove it e.g. by means of plastic tubing directed
downwards, so that the flowing water does not pour on the heater, as well as other surrounding objects.
No additional equipment can be installed between the safety valve and the heater. If the static pressure in
service waterworks (SPIRO models with stainless steel coil) exceeds 0.5 MPa, install a water pressure reducer
(for water connection to the building) because of the possibility of the occurrence of sudden changes in water
pressure exceeding 0.6 MPa (increased pressure in the night, sudden pressure surges due to interruptions in
water consumption).

6. STARTING
Order of filling:
1. First, fill the service water coil (SPIRO models only) by opening the valve on the water supply and fully
opening the valve on the coil's water outlet. The valve at the outlet should be opened again until the ventilation is
finished, i.e. until water flows out of the valve with full jet. After filling, close the valve, then check the tightness of
connections.
2. Then, fill the flushed coils (except for service water coil in the SPIRO model) by opening the valve on
the water inlet and fully opening the valve on the coil's water outlet. The valve at the outlet should be opened again
until the ventilation is finished, i.e. until water flows out of the valve with full jet. After filling, close the valve, then
check the tightness of connections.
3. Then, fill the tank, leave the tank ventilation valve open until the circulating water tank is ventilated. Control
the level of the heating liquid and fill in, if necessary.
NOTE - NOT FOLLOWING THE FILLING ORDER MAY RESULT IN DAMAGE
If there is a risk that the water or the heating fluid might freeze, drain all liquids from the tank(s) and coil(s), so that
the freezing liquid does not damage the tank.
If the tank is equipped with an electric heater, connection to the electricity grid can only take place after the tank(s)
is filled with water.
