HD-SDI Surveillance Camera
Please read these operating instructions carefully
prior to installation and keep them for later use.
1 Applications
This high-resolution colour camera is especially designed
for use in video surveillance systems (CCTV). Its func-
tions include automatic day/night switching, backlight
compensation, digital noise reduction, mirror-inverted
image display, zoom, iris control, motion detection with
output control, and a masking function to cover or conceal
zones that are not to be monitored. The camera is
equipped with a digital output (SDI) for high-resolution
image signals (HD) and with an analog output for testing
purposes. The setting menu can also be remote-con-
trolled via an RS-485 interface.
2 Safety Notes
The camera corresponds to all relevant directives of the
EU and is therefore marked with
.
G
The camera is suitable for indoor use only. For outdoor
mounting, the camera must be placed into a weather-
proof protection housing.
G
Protect the camera against dust, humidity and heat
(admissible ambient temperature range: -10 °C to
+50 °C).
G
For cleaning only use a dry, soft cloth; never use water
or chemicals.
G
No guarantee claims for the camera and no liability for
any resulting personal damage or material damage will
be accepted if the camera is used for other purposes
than originally intended, if it is not correctly installed or
if it is not repaired in an expert way.
If the camera is to be put out of operation defin-
itively, take it to a local recycling plant for a dis-
posal which is not harmful to the environment.
3 Lens
A lens with DC voltage-controlled iris (DC lens) or a lens
with manual iris adjustment can be used.
CAUTION! Protect the image sensor chip and
the lens assembly against dust and impurities
and never touch them with your fingers.
1) Remove the protective cover.

2) When using a C mount lens, first screw the C mount
adapter ring provided onto the threaded ring (1) and
then the lens on top. When using a CS mount lens,
screw the lens directly onto the threaded ring.
When using a lens with a DC voltage-controlled
iris, connect this lens to the jack (4) on the side of the
camera. The jack has the following pin configuration

4 Installation

1) To find the optimum place of mounting, make a test
run. Then fasten the camera, using one of the two
6.35 mm [
1
threads (2).

2) Use a 75 Ω cable to connect the BNC jack "HDcctv
Output" (5) to the SDI video input of a monitor. The
maximum cable length possible depends on the cable
quality. With the low-loss special cable KHD-1 from
MONACOR, the maximum cable length is 170 m.
Repeaters (e. g. HDEXT-206) can be inserted to sup-
port cable lengths of several hundred meters.
For testing purposes, an additional analog low-res-
olution video signal is available at the jack "Test Out"
only while menu settings are being made.
3) Whenever a motion is detected by the camera, a high-
level signal (+3.3 V) is available at the terminals "MD"
(6) for approx. 10 seconds to facilitate the evaluation
of the motion (e. g. to start a recorder).
4) To make menu settings by remote control, connect the
control unit to the terminals "RS485" (6).
5) Connect a regulated 12 V power supply with a perma-
nent rating of 160 mA to the two terminals "DC 12 V"
(6), observing the correct polarity. Once the operating
voltage is applied, the camera will be switched on and
the LED Power (8) will light up.
6) Switch on the monitor connected and align the camera
by means of the monitor image. Adjust the focus at the
lens. For a lens with manually adjustable iris, adjust
this iris to optimum image display (depth of focus and
brightness). If the image is not clear even though the
focus has been adjusted correctly, readjust the
mechanical focus for the lens: Release the setscrew
(3), using a small screwdriver. Turn the threaded ring
(1) to adjust a clear image. Then retighten the
setscrew.
