Charging/Replacing Batteries
Charging batteries
With fully charged batteries the unit can be operated ap-
prox. 12 h in rotational operation and approx. 8 h in
point operation. If the operation indicator 14 goes out
with the unit switched on, the batteries are empty.
Only connect the charger included in the delivery to the
unit.
Insert the charger plug into the socket 20 on the bottom
side of the unit. Connect the charger to the power sup-
ply; the red indicator lamp on the charger lights up.
Charging empty batteries requires approx. 12 hours.
The charging process is not ended automatically. After
charging disconnect the charger from the power supply.
Continuous compensation charging is unnecessary and
does not extend battery lifetime.
Do not recharge the batteries after each use. If the bat-
teries are not being used for extended periods, do not
recharge them until required for use.
Notice
To maintain maximum battery capacity, the batteries
should be completely discharged from time to time. For
this, leave the unit switched on for a longer period.
When the batteries are empty, the unit can also be op-
erated with the charger if a mains supply is available.
For this, switch the unit off at first and charge the batter-
ies for approx. 5 minutes.
Never connect the charger without batteries in
the unit!
A considerably reduced operation period after charging
indicates that the batteries are used up and must be re-
placed.
Protect the charger from moisture!
Replacing batteries
Loosen the 4 screws of the battery compartment lid on
the bottom side of the unit and remove the lid. Insert bat-
teries as indicated by the symbols on the battery com-
partment; ensure correct polarity. Alkaline batteries can
be used.
Close the battery compartment again.
The charger does not distinguish between regular bat-
teries and rechargeable ones. Therefore use regular
batteries only in emergencies.
Ensure that regular batteries are never charged;
danger of explosion!
Operating Instructions
Laser Viewing Glasses
The laser viewing glasses filters out the ambient light.
As a result, the red light of the laser appears brighter to
the eye.
Especially in line mode, levelling in open areas can be
performed very easily with the laser viewing glasses and
a meter stick.

The laser viewing glasses are not safety
glasses against laser beams.
Do not use as protective glasses agains sun
rays and do not use in traffic.
Do not look into the laser beam.
Do not point the laser beam at persons or an-
imals.

Projecting partitions (right-angled and vertical).
Dropping ceilings.
Determining building lines and right angle for tile/joint
edges.
Outdoors
Leveling terrain.
Planing and setting out rectangular foundation

Height Points
Place the unit with the deflection prism 4 in the horizon-
tal position. Align the laser beam to the required height.
When working without the tripod: Place the unit on a firm
support and determine the height difference between la-
ser beam and height line using the telescoping rod 29
(accessory).
Set the desired operation mode and project height line.
Working with the tripod
(accessory, e. g. Bosch BS 280 M)
The unit has two built-in tripod connec-
tions 22 with 5/8" thread. They allow for
horizontal and vertical mounting to the tri-
pod (available as accessory) without addi-
tional equipment. In horizontal direction
the unit fits on any leveling tripod with 5/
8" thread, also with center hole. In vertical
direction, however, the unit fits only on
leveling tripods with fixed stud bolt and no
center hole.
For tripods with a millimetre scale on the
extension, the height offset can be set di-
rectly.
When adjusting the laser beam height to a refer-
ence point, the unit is usually brought out of align-
ment by the motion. This causes the rotor to stop
briefly.
This effect can be suppressed by keeping push-button
15 pressed for a few moments when switching on.
