2.8 Filling the heat transfer fluid
After checking the consumer, and connecting the hoses and electrical cables, proceed as follows:
2.8.1 Initial installation/Filling the heat transfer fluid
1 Switch on the unit's main switch.
2 Open the vent and shutoff valves (when present).
3 Using a funnel, pour the thermal oil into the filling port slowly until the level control's red indicator lamp at
the top of the unit to the rear near the filling port goes out. Once the pump goes on, additional oil must be
added to keep the pressure gauge level constant. This ensures that all tubes (inside and outside of the unit)
are filled with thermal oil. See "Technical Data" for minimum filling quantity.
Recommended thermal oil: Regloplas RO300 or Therminol 66 (→ "Accessories for Temperature Control
Units" brochure).
As a preventative measure, we recommend the addition of the SR80 system cleaner (→"Regloplas
temperature control units", "SR80" data sheet).
Every time the unit is filled with thermal oil, the unit and the temperature control circuit
must be vented as follows:
Switch the unit on. To prevent overheating of the heating elements due to initial trapped air
in the temperature control circuit, a minimum-pressure switch is used to monitor the outlet
pressure in the unit. It interrupts heating when the pressure is too low (0.7 bar) and triggers
the flow alarm. To prevent the heater from being switched on by the controller, program the
set-point value to approximately 10 °C and vent the unit at that value for approximately 10
minutes.
4 Do not close the vent valve at the consumer until thermal oil flows from it regularly.
5 As newly filled thermal oil usually contains moisture, the moisture must be removed as described in Section
4.3, Steps 3 and 4.
6 Check the temperature control circuit for leaks.
2.8.2 Switching on (after initial installation)
1 Switch on the main switch on the unit.
2 Open the vent and shutoff valves (when present).
3 Check the temperature control circuit for leaks.
4 Do not close the vent valve at the consumer until thermal oil flows from it regularly.
Danger of injury in case of touching any component in contact with the heat transfer fluid.
2.9 Switching off with the RT50 control system
2.9.1 Using the ON/OFF key
The switching off process is initiated by pressing the ON/OFF key or via the timer. The switching off process
runs automatically depending upon the temperature of the heat transfer fluid as follows:
