Applications:
The Gimalux Otoscope should only be used to exa-
mine the external ear and for general no-invasive
examination.
Unlike the conventional models, this otoscope makes
use of a halogen lamp and optic fibres to convoy the
light beam. The otoscopes Gimalux are delivered in an
imitation leather case and are equipped with a dispo-
sable speculum.
Precaution:
The Otoscope should only be used to examine the ear
when a tip is fitted. Pressure should be applied with
great care when doing pneumatic testing. The product
or its components cannot be used for purposes diffe-
rent from the one specified in the present manual. Do
not use the equipment in case it is damaged. Apply to
your retailer. Avoid precarious repairs. Repairs shall be
carried out with original spare parts only, which shall
be installed according to the intended use.
OPERATION
Attaching a tip:
The Otoscope may only be inserted into the auditory
canal when a disposable tip is fitted.
Push the tip onto the instrument so that the internal
projection engages in the slit (1). Rotate clockwise the
tip to lock.
Magnifying lens:
The lens(2) magnifies ca.3x and can be swivelled aside
for instrumentation.
Insufflation port:
An insufflation pump can be fitted to the port.
General illumination:
The Otoscope can be used with or without a tip for ge-
neral illumination of e.g. the oral cavity or skin. Avoid
contact with sensitive or damaged skin.
Changing the bulb:
With the Gimalux otoscope, unscrew (counter-clockwi-
se) the head from the handle and pull the bulb (3)
downwards. Replace in the new bulb by pushing it in-
to head as Shown in the image. Before removing the
bulb, make sure that the instrument has been off for
some minutes; otherwise you run the risk of being
burnt.
Handle:
The battery handle is used to Power Gimalux otoscope.
Batteries (optional):
2 alkaline cells (AA / Lr6).
Instrument connector:
Internal thread in handle head (4).
Switching on:
ENGLISH
Push switch (5) down.
Switching off:
Push switch (5) up.
Changing the batteries:
Unscrew the head (counter-clockwise) and shake out
the old batteries.
Insert the new batteries paying attention to the di-
rection of poles.
CLEANING AND STERILIZATION
Otoscope head:
Clean the outside with a soft cloth, inside with a cotton
wool bud, if necessary soaked in alcohol. Gas steriliza-
tion is permitted. Do not soak.
Disposable Tips:
Are for single use only. Do not attempt to clean them as
the tips may be damaged and could injure the patient.
Handle:
Wipe with a Wet cloth or soaked in alcohol.
