14 OPERATION GRASS TRIMMER

Your grass trimmer will work at its best if you observe the following instructions:
▪
Never use the grass trimmer without its safety devices.
▪
Do not cut grass when it is wet. The best results are had on dry grass.
▪
Do not move the grass trimmer against the grass until the switch is pressed, i.e. wait until
the trimmer is running.
▪
For the correct cutting action, swing the grass trimmer to the side as you walk forward,
holding it at an angle of approx. 30° as you do so.
▪
Make several passes to cut long grass shorter step by step from the top.
▪
Use the edge guide and the guard hood to prevent unnecessary wear on the cutting
blades.
▪
Keep the grass trimmer away from hard objects in order to avoid unnecessary blade wear.
14.1

Switching on and off (Fig. 13)

▪
Press the lock-off button (20) and squeeze the ON/OFF switch (21) to start the trimmer.
▪
To switch the appliance off, release the on/off switch.
CAUTION! After switching off, the cutting blade will continue to rotate for a
few more seconds.
14.2

Adjusting the trimmer settings

14.2.1

Height adjustment (Fig. 14)

To adjust the height, simply rotate and loosen the collar extension lock knob (24) and to
extend or retract the extension tube (25).
▪
Tighten the extension lock knob (24) to lock the tube on the selected position.
14.2.2

Setting the auxiliary handle (Fig. 15)

▪
Take out the auxiliary handle (22) from the box.
▪
Loosen the knob (23) and take out the long screw.
▪
Fit the handle (22) over the mounting hole and replace the knob (23).
▪
Set the handle (22) at the desired angle and refasten the knob (23).
14.2.3

Adjustment the cutting angle (Fig. 16)

Your Trimmers has a 5-positions cutting head. This setting allows you to work effectively
at a comfortable working angle. It can cut accurately around the flower beds, under
bushes, around trees and fence posts etc.
▪
To change the angle, simply press the head angle button (26) of the cutting head, rotate to
the desired position, then release the button.
14.2.4

Setting up the cutting head for lawn edging (Fig.17)

▪
To use the trimmer in edging mode, press the vertical lock button (32) and swivel the
cutting head (27) fully to the left until the button snaps in place. (the cutting head does
not swivel to the right)
▪
Next the cutting head needs to be set in the vertical position using the head angle button
(26).
14.2.5

Setting up the flower protection (Fig. 18)

▪
When trimming grass close to solid objects (e.g. wooden fence, stone edge etc.) , the
flower protection (33) prevents contact damage with these objects and the cutter blades
(28).
▪
Simply flip the flower protection (33) forward until it snaps in place.
