RECORDING
@Two types of recording modes can be selected: '"'Easy-matic"
recording (the recording level is automatically adjusted) and manual
recording (the recording level must be adjusted manually).
™ Recording Level Adjustment
By setting the Recording-Mode Selector to the "EASY-MATIC"
position, the recording level can be adjusted automatically. To make
manual adjustment, set the selector to the "MANUAL" position, Meter
Selector to the "LEVEL" position and adjust the Recording Level
Adjustment Controls to the optimum level, watching LED Meters.
@!f the L.E.D. lamps, even when a loud sound coming in, light up within
the range shown in this figure, the recording will probably have too
much noise in it. The playback sound may be small.
if all the L.E.D. lamps light up all the recording time, the recorded
sound will be distorted. The playback sound may be very blurred and
indistinct.

@Make the adjustment so that the L.E.D. lamps move as far to the right
as possible, but not moving over to the right of the "0" indication (on
the scale marked ''level'') even when a loud sound coming in.
(There is no worry if the L.E.D. lamps instantly move over to the right
of the ''0" mark.)
@ Monitoring
"Monitoring" is to listen, through the Built-in Speakers, headphones,
or external speakers, to the sound as it is being recorded. Sound can
be monitored in the following way:
e@When recording from the radio, the sound being recorded can be
monitored through the Built-in Speakers, headphones, or external
speakers.
@When recording from a sound source connected to the Microphone
Jacks, Phono-Input Jacks, or DIN Connector Jack, the sound being
recorded can be monitored through the Built-in Speakers, head-
phones, or external speakers.
@To prevent
"howling"
(a high-pitched squeal) when
recording
through the Built-in Microphones,
sound cannot be monitored
through the Built-in Speakers (or external speakers) or headphones
during recording.
@When recording through the external microphones and monitoring
the sound, use headphones.
If necessary to adjust the volume level of the sound being monitored,
do so by using the Volume Control ('Easy-matic'"' recording or
manual recording.)

Note:
If external microphones are placed too close to the speakers in
this unit, a high-pitched squeal may be heard. If so, place the
microphones as far away from the speakers as possible, or
reduce the volume.
