4) Set the Dolby Noise-Reduction Switch to the "IN" position for
playback of tape recorded by the Dolby system.
In other case, set the switch to the "OUT" position.
5) Set the Mode Selector to the "STEREO" or "MONO" position.
6) Depress the Piayback Lever, and playback will begin.
7) Adjust the Volume, Balance, Bass, and Treble Controls.
8) To stop the playback, depress the Stop Lever. At the end of the
tape, the Playback Lever will be automatically released and the
power will be shut off.
H Fast Forward and Rewind
The tape can be rapidly moved forward (to the right) by depressing the
Fast-Forward/Cue Lever.
The tape can be rapidly rewound (to the left) by depressing the
Rewind/Review Lever.
Note:
Do not depress the Playback Lever during fast foward or
rewind, because the tape may become tangled; be sure to first
depress the Stop Lever.
@ "Cue" and "Review"
If the Cue Lever (or the Review Lever) is partially depressed and held
during tape playback, the tape sounds can be heard (although
garbled) as the tape is fast forwarded (or rewound). When the lever is
released, playback will again resume from that point. If the lever is
depressed in completely, the tape will be fast forwarded (or rewound)
in the ordinary way.
Note:
If the Cue Lever or the Review Lever is depressed during
recording, the Record Lever will return to its original position.
@ About the Full Auto Stop System
When the tape comes to its end during playback, recording, fast
forward
or
rewind,
the
automatic-stop
system
will
function:
automatically returning all levers to their original positions and turning
off the power.
Note, however, that the power is not turned off if the Function Selector
is set to the "PHONO/DIN IN" or "RADIO" position. To turn off the
power, therefore, be sure to set the Function Selector to the "OFF"
position.
@ About the Rewind/Automatic Playback
To again playback tape after recording or playback, depress the
Playback Lever and the Review Lever at the same time. The tape will
be rewound
up to the beginning of the tape and playback will
automatically begin.
@ About the Dolby-NR System
This unit includes the Dolby noise-reduction system, which reduces
tape noise to a remarkable degree.
Briefly, the system works as follows: At low sound levels (where tape
noise is most noticeable), the high-frequency portion of the sound is
recorded at a higher level. Tape noise is not amplified.
During playback, the level of only that portion of the signal which was
increased at the time of the recording, as well as tape noise, is
reduced by a like amount. This causes the signal to be heard at a
normal level, and the tape noise to be reduced significantly.
