3. Installation
All unused wires of the TRX control cable must not be twisted or soldered together. All
unusedwires haveto be insulated seperately avoiding to touch eachothers.
3.7.1
Connections
Many KENWOOD radios use a 6 pin DIN socket for remote control. Into some older
transceiver t ypesthe serialinterfacehasto be installedpreviously.Pleasereadthe equipment
handbook or consult your dealer.
Newer Kenwood transceiver (since TS-570) have a 9 pin SUB-D connector and operatewith
V24 levels for transceiver control. It's intended for direct connectionto a COM port of a PC.
Also thesetransceiverscan easily be controlled by the PTC-IIpro. Just solder a 9 pin connector
to the attached
cable as shown

Connections
Many ICOM's usea 3.5 mm jack socketfor remotecontrol.Bi-directional communicationis
carriedout over a singlewire. Different transceivers havedifferent addresses, so it is possible
for more than one transceiver to be connected to the remote control cable. Further information
canbe found in the appropriate literature from ICOM.
