Alle Compact-Cassetten haben auf der Rúckseite zwei Aussparun-
gen, die durch Kunststoff-Zungen verschlossen sind. Eigene Auf-
nahmen kónnen gegen unbeabsichtigtes Lóschen durch Heraus-
brechen dieser Zungen geschútzt werden.
Die im Fachhandel erhältlichen bespielten Musi-Cassetten sind
bereits gegen unbeabsichtigtes Lóschen gesichert. Wollen Sie die
Aufnahmesperre wieder aufheben, so brauchen nur die Aussparun-
gen mit einem Klebestreifen geschlossen werden.
Beachten Sie bitte, daB die bei Cr, FeCr und Metal-Cassetten
zusátzlich vorhandenen Offnungen nicht mit abgedeckt werden
Tonkopf
Der eingebaute 2/4-Spur Hartpermalloy-Tonkopf bietet hervorra-
gende magnetische Eigenschaften für Aufnahme und Wiedergabe
in Verbindung mit hoher VerschleiBfestigkeit.

Connection to the AC mains
The unit can be operated with AC mains voltage of 110-125 V and
220-240 V and has been set at the factory to 230 V.
Caution:
For safety reasons, the means voltage should only be
converted in a specialist workshop.
Connection to a HiFi system or amplifier
The following jacks are provided at the rear of your HiFi stereo
cassette deck:
OUTPUT R/L
Output sockets for connecting an amplifier or receiver (input, play)
with cinch connectors.
INPUT R/L
Input sockets (record) for connecting an amplifier or receiver (out-
put, record) with cinch connectors. The audio connecting lead, Item
Number 226 817, can be obtained from your dealer as a special
accessory.
Playback
Switching on and off
In order to swich the unit on, depress the power switch 1. Remove
the protective cover 2 for the tape heads towards you.
Tape selection
Using buttons tape selector 13, 14 and 15 select the tape type.
The table on page 3 will help you to classify your cassettes.
Music cassettes must be played back with pushbutton fe or cr
depressed depending upon the information provided on the label. If
there is no information, press the fe button.
00 Dolby NR
The Dolby noise reduction system considerably reduces tapeinhe-
rent noise and thus increases the dynamic range of recordings. To
play back cassettes carrying the Dolby symbol Hor those which were
recorded with the Dolby Nr system as described on page 10,
depress the Dolby NR button 16.
Der Doppelspalt-Ferritlöschkopf garantiert ein sicheres Löschen
auch bei den in dieser Hinsicht besonders kritischen Reineisen-
bandern.
Pflege, Wartung, Stórungen
Es empfielt sich, Képfe, Tonwelle, Bandandruckrolle und Band-
führung zu reinigen. Benutzen Sie für die Reinigung ein mit Rein-
alkohol befeuchtetes Wattestabchen. Verwenden Sie bitte keine
harten und metallischen Gegenstánde und berühren Sie die Kopt-
Spiegel nicht mit den Fingern. Die Reinigung der Andruckrolle sollte
mit einem trockenen Wattestábchen erfolgen.
Bei Auftreten von Störungen, die nicht auf Bedienungsfehler zu-
rückzuführen sind, wenden Sie sich bitte an Ihren Fachhändler
oder
die nächste Dual-Kundendienststelle.

Inserting and removing the cassette
Grip the cassette so that the tape is pointing downwards and then
firstly insert the upper edge of the cassette. Now swivel the cassette
to a vertical position until it is seen to engage in position.
After depressing the STOP button 3, you may now remove the
cassette. If you intend not to operate the cassette recorder for
along
period, you should fix the headguard back on the heads.
Start
Playback is started with the button D 4.
Stop
The stop button 7 switches off all functions — with the exception of
the pause function 8.
Pause
The pause button 8 is used for preparing to record and stop for brief
interruptions during recording and playback. The function you have
selected is maintained when the pause button is depressed.
Pressing the pause button once more returns the equipment to the
preceding mode of operation.
Rapid wind/Rewind

The functions "rapid wind" PP and "rapid rewind"
#4 serve to
rewind the tape and to locate specific positions on the tape.
During playback, pushbuttons 7 and 8 may be depressed directly
yet, in the case of recording, the stop button 4 must be depressed
beforehand.
Autostop
The unit has an tape monitor which stops tape running in the event
of malfunctions and at the end of the tape.
How to make your own recordings

Depress the tape selection button 13, 14 or 15, corresponding to
the tape used.
* Switch on 00 (DOLBY NR) 16.
* Reset the index counter 10 to "000" by depressing the RESET
button 11.
Recording preparation and recording level setting
Press the pause 8 and record 3 keys in that order. The Led record
12 indicates that the unit is set to record.
You can modulate the tape recording by means of the record level
controls 17. Control L controls the left channel and control R
controls the right channel. The two stereo channels can be control-
led separately; by using the friction coupling they can also be
controlled together,
Check the treble-equalized peak level indicator 9 for the correct
recording level.
The recording level is optimally set when the first red LED does not
light up during the loudest passages of a program. The quality ofthe
recording is still not impaired if this red area is briefly exceeded by
up to 3 dB. If the recording level is too low, then the dynamic range
of the tape is not fully exploited. If the recording level is too high,
there is a risk of audible distortion.
