3 Assembly of the thermostatic
setting head
Warning
The head must never be installed vertically: this
would compromise its temperature sensitivity.
1 Turn the thermostatic setting head knob to the
highest temperature position: position 5.
2 Couple the setting head with the valve, pressing it
until it hits the valve body, so that the temperature
reference pointer  is orient towards the top.
Warning
Hexagon  of the valve must be inserted into the
seat  on the base of thermostatic head (see Fig. B).

7 Detection of room temperature
The head with thermal sensor provides a constant
measure of room temperature and the transfer the
measurement to the setting valve.
It must therefore be influenced constantly by the air
circulating in the room.
Warning
Avoid that air around the thermostatic head is blocked.
Heavy curtains, recessed positions, radiator covers
would hinder the proper measuring of the tempera-
ture of thermostatic feeler, thus resulting in a cooler
environment (see Fig. C e D).

Installation instructions
1
Description components
Thermostatic head is mainly composed of two ele-
ments:
The valve body
Supplied with shutter with seal that does not require
any maintenance;
The thermostatic setting head
The setting head is equipped with a sensitive ele-
ment containing a fluid with a given coefficient of ex-
pansion.
This means that for every room temperature there is
a corresponding volume of fluid.
The variation of volume in the sensitive element de-
termines the amplitude of a piston which operates the
shutter road on the valve.
• With every increase in room temperature there
is an increase in the volume of fluid and the valve
closes.
• With every decrease in room temperature there is a
decrease in the volume of fluid and the valve opens.
The temperature at which the valve operates is regu-
lated by the setting head.

4 Function test
As-the end of the assembly of the thermal expansion
valve a function test must be carried out.
For this you must proceed as follows:
1 Turn the knob of head till position 0.

3 Turn the knob of the head till position "5" and
check that radiator will heat up.
Remark: The test has to be performed with environ-
ment temperature < than 26 °C.
Instructions for use
5 Functioning
The head with thermal sensor constantly controls
room temperature. It compares the measurement
with the value you set and acts on the valve for its
opening or closing. If room temperature is lower than
that set by you, the valve opens until the desired tem-
perature is reached.
If the thermal exchange conditions are inadequate for
the environmental needs (due to a reduced exchange
surface, a low carrying liquid temperature or an insuf-
ficient differential pressure valve) the desired temper-
ature may not be reached. In this case, it cannot be at-
tributed to a product defect.
When room temperature goes beyond the set value,
the valve closes.
EN
8 Temperature limitation
The thermostatic head is provided with two setting
pins , one read and the other blue, under the refer-
ence index (see Fig. E).
These pins are provided to set a temperature or to
limit the regulation possibilities.
Fig. E
2 Assembly of valve body
1 The piping of the system must be clean of any
foreign bodies.
2 The radiators and the heating system must be
rinsed.
Warning
The water way in the valve bodies can be opened or
closed using the protection lid  that must be re-
moved before the assembly of the thermostatic set-
ting head (see Fig. A).
Check that the distance X between the seat of the body
valve and the edge of the metal rod with valve close (rod
pushed) correspond to 11,8 mm (see Fig. A).

6 Setting the desired room temperature
The thermostatic head rotating knob  allows the
setting of the room temperature.
Numbers from 1 to 5 are maked on the rotating knob.

Each on of these numbers corresponds to a deter-
mined temperature. The distances betwenen the sin-
gle numers correspond to intermediate temperatures.
With the help of the table that is provided ahead, you
will find an approximate correspondence between the
scale on the knob and the respective temperatures.

Warning
In zero position "0" (closed) there is danger of freez-
ing.
To set the desired temperature, set the relative num-
ber in correspondence with the reference pointer .
8.1 Limiting the minimum adjustable
temperature
To limit the adjustment of the head knob till a certain
low temperature, proceed as follows:
1 Remove the blue pin.
2 Set the desired temperature
(e.g. antifreeze pos.
3 Find the black dot i located between position 5 and 0
(Fig. G).
4 Push through the pin  into the first hole on
the right of the black dot. (Fig. H)
