– Any metal fittings must be checked at regular intervals with suitable agents, depending
on the country regulations.
4.4 Use
4.4.1 Selection of suitable SpanSet Magnum® Plus Flex round slings
The selection is based on the following criteria:
– Weight of the load. Determine the weight by weighing or calculating.
– Centre of gravity of the load. Take the centre of gravity from the design documents or
calculate it.
– Length and angle of inclination. Determine by positioning the crane hook vertically
above the load.
– Use a spreader beam if SpanSet Magnum® Plus Flex round slings are used in pairs.
This distributes the load evenly over the strands
– Determine the type of slinging
– The type of sling influences the rated load capacity. The change in the load capacity is
shown by the load slinging factor M (see cover page
capacity is specified in the "single direct" slinging method.
– Take the geometry and surface properties of the load into account.

Danger! Death or serious injury due to the load falling when tilted.
4.4.2 Determining the rated load capacity
The rated load capacity is influenced by the type of sling (see 4.4.1 Selecting SpanSet
Magnum® Plus Flex round slings).
– The rated load capacity must be greater than or equal to the mass of the load.
– The effective working load limit is influenced by the type of sling and the angle of
