Preservation of wooden slats
Larch
High-quality larch wood does not require any preservation in and of
itself. It is highly resistant to weather conditions and also resistant to
pests such as insects and fungi.
Untreated larch
Our larch wood is weather-resistant and durable even without
treatment. However, a silvery gray patina can form on the wood in
spite of this. This greying is a natural process in which weatherproof
wood protects itself against destructive UV radiation.
To prevent it, pre-weathering products can be used, or the weathering
and formation can be prevented with the application of UV-blocking
coatings. Keep in mind that the adverse effects on the environment
should always be taken into account when using chemical pre-
weathering products. Certain oil-based stains are better.
Possible protective agents
Paints
Glazes, impregnating glazes (best alternative since it is open to
diffusion)
Oil (with weather protection effect, with pigmentation)
Thermally modified pine
Due to the thermal treatment of the wooden slats, glazing is not
necessary. If you would still like to treat the slats, contact a specialist
store to find a suitable protective agent for your outdoor sofa.
