IMPORTANT NOTE:
When DECK
1 and DECK 2 are both in the playback mode,
only the DECK 2 tape will be heard.
pening To An External Unit
Connect the external unit's audio output jacks to the cassette re-
ceiver's AUX jacks, using the cabie supplied with the external unit.
Be sure to make the correct connections.

NOTE:
Refer to the external unit's operating instructions manual.
Set the cassette receiver's VOLUME control to "0".
Switch on the power to the cassette receiver and external unit.
Press the AUX FUNCTION Select button.
The AUX FUNCTION indicator lights.
5.
Operate the external unit.
6.
Adjust the cassette
receiver's VOLUME,
BALANCE
and
MULTI
TONE controls as desired.

Listening Through Headphones
(nog avallable from Fisher)
Set the VOLUME control to "O".
z
Plug the headphones cord into the PHONES jack for private lis-
tening.
Sound will be heard through the headphones only.

Put the headphones
on, and adjust the VOLUME,
BALANCE
and
MULTI TONE
controis in the same way as when listening to the
speakers.

NOTE:
Be sure that the VOLUME control is set to a low listening level, before
plugging in or unptugging the headphones. This precaution is neces-
sary to protect the headphones and your ears against shock noise.
Automatic Level Control Circuit
This unit contains an Automatic Level Control circuit which records the
source signals at a constant, optimum level. It is therefore not neces-
sary to adjust the recording level by yourself. Adjusting the VOLUME,
BALANCE and MULTI TONE controls during recording will have no ef-
fect on the recorded sound.
Recording
Switch on the power for all of the components that will be used.

Insert the cassette to be used for recording into DECK 2.
When
using a new, blank cassette, the full reel will be on the
left side.
3.
Set the DOLBY NR switch correctly (see "DOLBY NR Switch").
4.
Set the DECK
2 TAPE SELECT switch to match the type of tape
being used.
5.
Set the DECK 2 DIRECTION MODE switch to the desired mode.
6.
Press the DECK 2 PAUSE button.
7.
Press the DECK 2 RECORD button. The DECK 2 PLAY button will
lock down at the same time.
DECK 2 is now set to the Recording Pause mode.
8.
Receive a broadcast station, play a record, or play a compact disc
that you want to record.
9.
To start recording, press the DECK 2 PAUSE button again.
10.
Adjust
the
cassette
receiver's
controls
for the
most
pleasing
sound,
11.
To stop recording temporarily, press the DECK 2 PAUSE button.
Press the DECK 2 PAUSE button again to continue recording.
12.
To stop recording, press the DECK 2 STOP/EJECT button once.
13.
if the tape winds completely onto the right-hand ree! while re-
cording the forward side of the tape in the One-way mode, the tape
will stop automatically.

To record the reverse side of the tape, turn the cassette over,
and repeat steps 6 through 12.
14.
If the tape winds completely onto the left-hand reel while record-
ing the reverse
side of the tape in the One-cycle
mode, the tape
will stop automatically.
15.
When recording has been completed, set the POWER switch to off.
NOTES:
During recording, do not press the DECK
1 FAST FORWARD
or
DECK 1 REWIND button.
If DECK 2 is set for recording when the Continuous-play mode has
been selected, the DECK 2 DIRECTION MODE switch will be reset
to the One-cycle mode.
When performing One-cycle mode recording, make sure that the
erase guard tabs have not been broken out of the cassette tape.
If the reverse side erase guard tab has been broken out, the DECK
2 DIRECTION MODE switch will be reset to the One-way mode.

Erasing A Tape
During
recording
with DECK
2, all previously
recorded
material
is
erased automatically. If you wish to erase without recording new ma-
terial, follow this procedure:
1.
Press the TAPE FUNCTION Select button.
2.
Check the cassette.
If the erase
guard
tabs
have
been
broken
out, cover
the
openings with adhesive tape.
Insert the cassette properly with the side to be erased facing you. |
Set the DECK 2 DIRECTION MODE switch to the desired mode.
Set the DECK 2 TAPE SELECT switch to match the type of tape |
being used.

6.
Press the DECK 2 RECORD button. The DECK 2 PLAY button will" :
lock down at the same time.

The forward side of the tape in the One-way mode, or the for- |
ward and reverse sides of the tape in the Dneceycle mode will
be erased.
7.
To stop the tape, press the DECK 2 STOP/EJECT button.
8.
To erase the reverse side of the tape in the One-way mode, turn
the cassette over, and repeat steps 6 and 7.
Dubbing

1.
Switch on the cassette receiver's power.
2.
Press the TAPE FUNCTION Select button.
3.
Insert a prerecorded tape into DECK 1.
4.
Insert the cassette to be used for recording into DECK 2.
When
using a new, blank cassette, the full ree! will be on the
left side.
5.
Set the DOLBY NR switch correctly (see "DOLBY NR Switch").
6.
Set the DECK 2 TAPE SELECT switch to match the type of tape
being used.
7.
Set the DECK
1 and DECK 2 DIRECTION
MODE
switches to the
desired mode.
8.
To listen to the DECK 1 tape during dubbing, press the DUBBING
button.

The DECK
1 PLAY button, the DECK 2 RECORD
and DECK2
PLAY buttons will lock down at the same
time. Release the
DUBBING button.
To dub the whole DECK 1 tape at high speed, press the DUBBING
ane HIGH SPEED DUBBING buttons together.
The DECK
1 PLAY
button, the DECK
2 RECORD
and DECK2
PLAY buttons will lock down at the same time. Release the
DUBBING
button. The HIGH SPEED DUBBING
button will lock
down.
Turn down the cassette receiver's volume, or listen to another
program source (e.g. a record).
9.
To stop dubbing temporarily,
press
both PAUSE
buttons at the
same time.
The DECK 1 and DECK 2 tapes will stop.
Press
both
PAUSE
buttons
together
a second
time
to continue
dubbing.
10.
To stop dubbing, press both STOP/EJECT buttons once.
11.
If the DECK 1 and DECK 2 tapes wind completely onto the right-
hand reels, during One-way mode dubbing of the forward side of
the tapes, the tapes will stop automatically.
To dub the reverse side of the tape, turn the cassettes over,
and repeat steps 8 through 10.
12.
If the DECK 1 and DECK 2 tapes wind completely onto the left-hand
reels, during One-cycle mode dubbing of the reverse side of the
tapes, the tapes wil! stop automatically.
NOTES:
lf high speed dubbing is performed near a TV which is tuned to a
station, a "beep"
sound
may
be recorded
onto the tape.
If this
happens, use normal speed dubbing.
