SURROUND Button and Indicator
When this button is pressed and the indicator lights, the sound will
seem more expansive.
Connect surround speakers to create the atmosphere of a concert

surround
speakers
are
connected,
sound
is produced
from the surround speakers even if the SURROUND
indicator
is off.

TIMER Buttons
ON Button: To set the on time, press this button, then press the
MEMORY button within 5 seconds.
OFF Button: To set the off time, press this button, then press the
MEMORY button within 5 seconds.
CANCEL
Button: Press this button to cance! the timer.

=) STEREO Indicator
This indicator lights when the ST/MONO button is set to ST and
an FM stereo broadcast is received.
G) Station Number Dispiay
When a station is memorized, or when a memorized station is
recalled, the number
of the memorized
station's button ap-
pears in this display (see "Presetting Stations").

When the UP or DOWN button is pressed, this display turns
off.
H) ST/MUTE Indicator
This indicator lights when the FM-1/2/3 Band Select button is
pressed and the ST/MONO button is set to ST.
1) TUNED Indicator
This indicator lights when a station is tuned in. (it flashes when
the signal is weak, and in some cases it may not light at all.)
17. ST/MONO Button
a) ST (ST/MUTE indicator on):
Stereo broadcast are heard
in stereo. Monaural
broadcasts
are
heard
in mono.
interstation
noise
is suppressed
during
tuning.
MONO (ST/MUTE indicator off):
Select this mode to receive weak FM stations. Reception will
be improved, but the sound will be monaural. Interstation noise
will not be suppressed during tuning.
NOTE:
The ST/MUTE function affects FM reception only.

Automatic/Manual Tuning
1.
Press the MW/LW
or FM-1/2/3 Band Select button to select the
desired broadcast band.
'

Tune in a station.
Automatic Tuning:
Press and hold down the UP or DOWN
button to change the fre-
quency. Release the button.

The frequency changes continuously until a station is tuned
in.

The frequency stops changing if the button is pressed
again
before a station is tuned in.
Manual Tuning:
Press and release the UP or DOWN button repeatedly
to change
the frequency in small steps.
~
The frequency changes in steps of 9kHz for the MW band,
1kHz
for the LW band, and 0.05MHz for the FM band.
NOTE:
When the end of the broadcast band is reached during
tuning, the scan
function will skip to the opposite end of the band.
