Thank
you
very
much
for
purchasing
the
AIWA
AD-6300.
This set is a full performance component type stereo
cassette tape deck.
Before using it, please read these
operating instructions thoroughly in order to correctly
operate and enjoy its many built-in features.
MAIN
FEATURES
е
Full performance component type equipment.
Control and lever operation, cassette insertion and removal
are
all
performed
from
the front
panel.
This
is a true
component type stereo cassette deck.
е
Built-in Dolby system reduces annoying hiss noise.
®
Peak Indicator
This indicator will light up if input becomes over in recording
and the failures such as the distortion or crack of sound can
be prevented.
е
Special position for ferrichrome (Fe-Cr) tape.
Independent
3-position
bias and equalizer selectors derive
maximum performance from every kind of tape.
e
Input selector switch provides significant SN improvement
during line input recording.
e
Cue/Quick Review mechanism
Extremely
fast tape program
location multiplies operational
ease. Quick review is especially convenient after recording.
е
Automatic Stop Mechanism
Functions
in all transport
modes:
RECORD,
PLAY,
FAST
FORWARD
and
REWIND.
When
the end
of the tape
is
reached, tape is automatically stopped, and all locked control
buttons are released.
TAPE
PROPERTIES
Tape
can
be broadly
classified
into three types according
to
magnetic materials: ferric oxide, chrome, and ferrichrome. Ferric
oxide tape employs y-Fe, O, magnetic material and is usually
referred to as standard (STD or LH) tape.
Chrome tape uses CrO, (chromium dioxide) magnetic material
and possesses several advantages:
1. superior frequency response
2. wide dynamic range with increased output at high frequencies
3. excellent SN ratio 4. clear sound.
On the negative side, however, its differing magnetic properties
do not allow full compatibility with earlier model tape recorders.
Chrome tape also has a tendency to cause more rapid head wear.
Ferrichrome (Fe-Cr) tape combines the features of the above by
using a double
layered coating of both materials. The perfor-
mance
advantages of chrome tape become added to the ease of
usage of standard (ferric oxide) tape.
DOLBY
SYSTEM
TECHNICAL
OUTLINE
The
slow
tape speed
and
narrow
track
width
employed
in
cassette recording Combine to increase the audibility of annoying
tape hiss noise, This becomes
particularly bothersome at low
signal levels. Compensation for this drawback has been achieved
through the development of the Dolby system.
The Dolby system
is concerned mainly with middle and high
frequency
portions
of the signal, which
are
most
prone
to
audible hiss noise. When these signal components decline below a
predetermined
level, they are enhanced
and recorded at higher
than normal level (compression).
During playback, the increased
levels are then reduced
(expansion).
This process provides an
astonishing
reduction
in hiss
noise.
In terms
of SN
ratio,
improvements of 5 dB at 1 kHz and 10 dB over 5 kHz can be
realized.

MPX (Multiplex) Filter
Carrier signal leakage while recording from FM stereo broadcasts
or CD-4 sources can occasionally cause the Dolby NR circuit to
operate incorrectly. The MPX
filter is coupled with the DOLBY
NR switch of this set to eliminate the carrier signal and prevent
this difficulty. Setting the DOLBY
NR switch to ON connects
the MPX filter circuit.
