• Edges must have a radius of >0.5 mm and must be free of
burrs(2.5, 2.6)
• If there is a risk of sharp edges (radius <0.5 mm) and burrs,
- precautions must be taken to avoid falling over the edge before
starting work or
- edge protection must be installed and used or
- the manufacturer must be contacted.
• The attachment point for the flexible anchor line must not be below
the user's standing area, e.g. on a roof or a platform.
• The angle between the strands of the flexible anchor line must be
at least 90° in the event of a fall.
• Slack rope must be avoided. The length of the system may only be
changed when the user is not moving in the direction of the falling
edge.
• When working, a maximum lateral offset of 1.5 m to the
attachment point must be maintained to minimise the risk of a
swinging fall. If this is not possible then other suitable anchor
devices must be used, e.g. EN 795 type C or D.
• Note: When used in combination with an EN 795 Type C anchor
device, when calculating the required fall clearance distance H
the deflection of this system in the event of a fall must be taken into
account. The information in the corresponding instruction manual(s)
must be observed.
• Note: In the case of a fall over an edge, there is a risk of injury to
the user due to contact with the building/construction.
Additional rescue measures need to be defined – and training
provided – for this application.
Application Lanyard for work positioning / for restraint according to
EN 358
WARNING: Lanyards used for restraint or work positioning purposes
may not be used to arrest falls.
The components of a complete system must never be used individually
or be replaced by non-certified products. The system should only be
used in accordance with its intended use. Ensure that the lanyard
(rope, webbing) is not damaged.
It is vital to ensure that the user cannot reach the edge where falls
could occur when using the lanyard as a restraint system (2.7).
Attach the carabiner to the length adjustment device on the restraint
attachment point of the belt and the other carabiner on the lanyard
on a suitable anchor point.
When using the lanyard for work positioning purposes, attach the
carabiner of the lanyard on the lateral attachment point of the
belt (always use in pairs). It is vital that you consider whether an
independent protection measure, such as a fall-arrest system, is
required (2.8/2.9).
