Stylus Replacement
The
needle
of the
pickup
cartridge
must
always
be
free
of
dust.
For cleaning
use
a small
brush
with
very soft bristles,
which
is stripped
in longitudinal
direction
of the cartridge
over
the
needle.
Diamond
styli
can
be
used
up
to
1000
hours of playing. However, despite their hardness, they abrade
gradually. Worn
needles
impair sound
reproduction
and dam-
age record grooves. A defective
needie should
be replaced
immediately.
For
this purpose
carefully
pull out
Fig. 11
part
"n"
off the
cartridge and insert the new needle.
You are advised to accept no substitute for original ELAC styli.
3.3
Stylus Landing Position on Lead-in Groove of Record
This
adjustment
has already
been
made
at the factory
with
an
ELAC
cartridge.
If you
have
installed
a different
type
of
cartridge, a readjustment
may be necessary.
Connect
the unit
to A.C. power source, place a 7" or 12" record on the turn-
table
and
set
the
corresponding
turntable
speed
45
or
33 rpm, with the speed change lever (Fig. 1—8).
Release the arm lock (Fig. 12—16) by moving it to the right,
but hold the cueing lever (Fig. 12—19) forward in position YV.
Start the record
changer
by depressing
the START
button
and when
the tone arm
has swung
in observe
if the stylus
stands above the lead-in groove of the record.
If necessary,
correct the landing point of the stylus by turning the slotted
screw in the hole of the tone arm socket (Fig. 12—15). Observe
the result and make the final correction.
