Stroop waffels
Ingredients:
For the dough
• 200 g flour
• 100 g cane sugar (light)
• 100 g butter
• 1 tbsp water
• 1 egg
• 1 pinch of salt
• A quarter of a teaspoon of cinnamon
For the filling:
• 120 g sugar beet syrup

• 50 g cane sugar (light)
• 50 g butter
Preparation:
For the dough: Mix the sugar, slightly melted butter,
flour, egg, cinnamon and water in a food processor to
form a dough. Use a dough hook for this.
For the filling : Slowly heat the sugar beet syrup in a
saucepan and let the sugar dissolve in it. Finally, add
the butter and let it melt.
Preheat the waffle iron. Shape the dough into evenly
round balls (approx. 38-40g). Place the ball on the hot
iron, close the lid and press down briefly. Carefully re-
move the finished waffle from the iron and place on
a plate. Carefully cut the still hot waffle horizontally
with a sharp knife. This must be done quickly, other-
wise it will become hard and brittle. Spread some
of the filling on each half and press together like a
sandwich.
Do the same with the remaining waffles.
