Operating mode
When the mains voltage is applied, the connected PTC thermistors heat up.
The product can be operated in three different modes. The operating mode
is set by means of a slide switch on the printed circuit board.
6.1.1
Operating mode "Probe 1": Level switch
Only the signal from the first probe is evaluated. A second probe may be
connected, but it will not be considered.
If the heat-up process of the first probe is completed and if the PTC ther-
mistor of the first probe is exposed to air (i.e. not submerged in liquid), the
yellow LED "Probe 1" goes out, the green LED "Release Relay" lights up
and the output relay is energised.
If the PTC thermistor of the first probe is submerged in liquid or if the heat-
up process of the first probe is not yet completed or if the first probe is not
connected or is short-circuited, the yellow LED "Probe 1" lights up, the
green LED "Release Relay" goes out and the output relay is de-ener-
gised.
6.1.2
Operating mode "Filling": Level control for filling
Both PTC thermistor probes "Probe 1" and "Probe 2" are connected. The
following applies to both probes:
If the heat-up process of a probe is completed and if the PTC thermistor
of the probe is exposed to air (i.e. not submerged in liquid), the yellow LED
of the corresponding probe goes out. If the PTC thermistor of a probe is
submerged in liquid or if the heat-up process of the probe is not yet com-
pleted or the probe is not connected or short-circuited, the yellow LED of
the corresponding probe lights up.
The two probe signals are logically linked to provide an output signal in
the following way:
If both probes are no longer submerged in the liquid, the green LED
"Release Relay" lights up and the output relay is energised. If both probes
are submerged in the liquid, the green LED "Release Relay" goes out and
the output relay is de-energised.
