Modifications to the cutoff tool can effect tool performance and safety.
Do not modify the cutoff tool. Do not operate the cutoff tool if it has been modified or damaged. Periodically inspect cutoff tool
for damage and to ensure all safety markings are legible. Do not discard the safety instructions; give them to the operator.
Damaged or modified cutoff tools can cause injury.
Be aware of workplace hazards.
Be aware of slippery surfaces caused by the use of the grinder. Avoid trip hazards caused by the air line. Proceed with care in
unfamiliar surroundings.
Workplace hazards can cause injury.
Be aware of hazards of operating the tool.
Operators and maintenance personnel shall be able to handle the bulk, weight, and power of the tool. The user shall contact the
manufacturer to obtain replacement marking labels when necessary. When cutting off, the workpiece shall be supported that the
slot is kept at constant or increasing width during the complete operation. If the abrasive product becomes jammed in a cut slot,
shut off the grinder and ease the wheel free. Check that the wheel is still correctly secured and not damaged before continuing.
Grinding wheels and cutting-off wheels shall not be used for side grinding.
Tools shall be periodically inspected to ensure ratings and markings are legible.
When disposing of a tool, do it in a way that does not harm personnel or the environment.
INTENDED USE
This tool is designed to be used with flat, reinforced resin 3" diameter maximum discs having a speed rated above 25,000 RPM. The bore size of the disc is
3/8". The tool should not be used with saw blades or other cutting devices. Do not use the tool outside the design intent. Never modify the tool for any other
purpose, or for its use a disc cutter, without first seeking advice from the manufacturer or an authorized representative. The tool should only be used as a
handheld, hand operated tool.
AIR SUPPLY
The efficiency and life of this tool depend on the proper supply of clean, dry air at a maximum of 90 PSI. The use of an air line filter, pressure regulator, and
lubricator is recommended. Before connecting to tools, blow out the air line to remove water and dirt that may have accumulated.
HOSE AND HOSE CONNECTIONS
The air supply hose recommended is 3/8" (10mm) I.D. If an extension hose is necessary, use 1/2" (13mm) ID hose with couplings not less than 3/8" (10mm) I.D.
LUBRICATION
All models may operate without airline lubrication. However, operating the tool without airline lubrication may reduce tool performance and vane life. If an
airline lubrication is not used, it is recommended that the tool be oiled daily before use to improve performance. Add 2-4 drops of air motor oil and run the
tool for 10-20 seconds to distribute oil through the tool. For maximum performance and tool life, an air line lubricator, set to deliver 2 drops per minute, is
recommended. SIOUX No. 288 Air Motor Oil is recommended.
MAINTENANCE
Water, dust and other airline contaminants can cause rust and vane sticking. For long periods between tool use, flush the tool with a few drops of oil and run
for 10 seconds. This will help remove contaminants and reduce the formation of rust. Periodically check the speed and vibration of the cutoff tool If the speed
exceeds the nameplate speed, have cutoff tool repaired. Verify all safety markings are legible. Inspect spindle threads, clamping devices and abrasive
location features for wear. If wear is present, replace components.
OPERATION
Disconnect tool from air supply before installing or removing cutoff wheel or making any adjustments
The tool is equipped with a locking type lever in order to prevent accidental start-up. Speed of the tool may be adjusted by turning the regulator, which is located
opposite the throttle lever.
INSTALLING CUTOFF DISCS
Place cutoff disc on spindle, follow by a spacer on the outside. Screw the hex screw onto the spindle to secure the spacer and cutoff disc. Use the included
spanner wrench to hold the spindle while using the hex wrench to tighten the screw to no more than 120 in-lb.
REMOVING CUTOFF DISCS
Unscrew the hex screw and remove the cutoff disc.
