Installing the Pilot

Rudder Feedback Unit
It is important to read the Manual / Installation Instruction for each unit prior to commencing
installation.
Refer to the VDO PILOT BOX Manual for:
- A step by step installation procedure for connecting the PILOT CONTROL system into the Pilot
Computer.
- Connecting peripheral equipment (compass sensor, rudder feedback unit,...).
- Setting the Jumpers and Links.
Once the PILOT CONTROL system's mechanical installation is complete, carry out:
- Dockside Settings, and
- Sea Trials to configure the pilot to the vessel.
- Pilot Configuration explains the Pilot and peripheral equipment settings for the system.
In the interest of safety there must be an autopilot control within reach of the Helmsman AT ALL
TIMES, to enable quick disengagement of the Pilot.
The PILOT CONTROL connects to the Bulkhead Socket. The Bulkhead Socket and its cable connect to the
PILOT BOX. The Socket requires a 25 mm (1.0") diameter hole for mounting.
Allow adequate clearance for cable connections to ensure cables are not unduly stressed.
